PPC G5 Tower won't power on only when external display is connected

Ugh, reseating the processor is such a pain. Oh well, if that helps I'll be glad to try it. As to the video working after the computer is on, that was my thought except that with the video card in it powers on just fine, its only when a display is connected that it causes issues. Is it...

PPC G5 Tower won't power on only when external display is connected

It has both DVI and ADC ports I heavily researched all the parts I bought to make sure they were original spec. Same with the power supply and the PRAM battery. RAM came in the computer but I've swapped that with several known working sticks with no difference. No beeps at start up ever and the...

PPC G5 Tower won't power on only when external display is connected

Alright, I've exhausted every means I know of to get this working. I recently acquired an older PPC G5 tower (PowerMac7,2 with the 1.6GHz single core processor). Originally it came with a bad power supply and no graphics card, I replaced the power supply easily and got a new graphics card...

    Viruses On Os X

Just read this article, Apple secretly updates Mac malware protection. Its still not a virus but interesting nonetheless. I didn't believe it at first but then I checked the Xprotect.plist myself and it is fact. Its kinda funny that Apple didn't mention it in the release notes. Any of you...

    downloaded itunes content won't play

Have you tried deauthorizing? If you deauthorize and then authorize again it should reset your iTunes library to authorized. Let me know if that works.

"From Old Mac" Files & Folders

You should be able to delete them just fine. You are correct in assuming that they are leftover from Migration Assistant. The .DS_Store file and the .localized file are, by default, hidden in the regular finder view. The .DS_store file saves custom attributes of folders, like the position of...

quicktime 10 doesnt recognise .mov files

Or... You can download and install the free VLC player and use that to watch the .mov. VLC supports just about every video and audio codec your likely to run across and is one of my favorite Mac OS X freeware programs. Good Luck!

    Malware

Viruses and Mac are under discussion here Malware isn't the same thing. And I completely agree with anyone who said you should switch to OpenDNS. Temporary or permanent it'll solve your problem

    Viruses On Os X

This could have been done with the other two computers in the contest just as fast if the other teams had been smart enough to do the same thing. And the guy who did it (Mr. Miller, a former NSA employee) custom tailored a website and an exploit especially for the contest. On top of...

Can't get bloody MacPorts to install

Before you tried installing with the dmg did you completely remove all instances of Macports? I'm not really a big shell guy but that would be my first guess since your seeing the same problem in both situations.

    Various applications keep crashing

You can try here. Or here Or you can try and get it from Apple If you feel comfortable using the Terminal (found in the Utilities folder under Applications) you can use the plutil command line tool. If your not comfortable with Terminal I wouldn't suggest this as your first option...

    Various applications keep crashing

From what you posted the particular error is an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error. An EXC_BAD_ACCESS error is usually used when there's an illegal memory access occurring. Basically, the program is asking to use a piece of RAM that either doesn't exsist or the program isn't allowed to access. There are many...

Help: accidentally deleted my mac osx boot volume

To be able to reinstall the hard drive has to be formatted for Mac not Windows. In order to do that you have to boot to the OS X install cd and you can use Disk Utility from there to erase and reformat the hard drive for a fresh install of OS X.
