i have 5 macs on the network that i want to sync with the same address book database. each user will need to edit and add to the address book. Can i achieve this with one .Mac account? is there another way?

I did an upgrade of 10.4? maybe i need to do a clean install? Funny thing though DVD+R mounts just fine.

Well 10.3.3 installed and ran fine. My G5 came with 10.3.3 (Dual 2.5 GHZ) about a year ago... surely then the Dual 2.7's should run 10.x. They didn't change that much on the inside did they?

Have two new G5 Dual 2.7's and neither mount or even TRY to burn a CD... They mak noises and spit the CD out. They mount burnt CD's OK. Any suggestions? The Computers came with 10.4 but because of compatablity issues with some of my software i went back to 10.3.3... I am now on 10.4. everything...

Good rant. I'm feeling the same. For me Spotlight is useless as i don't keep anything on my local drives except for standard system stuff which i don't normally need to search.

OK I've learn't about the little utility called mdutil that makes spotlight look at mounted network volumes..... ldm talks about it here http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050430233117572... but it wasn't mentioned if his computer slowed down too much with constant network activity...

3 people are accessing this server Volume all day everyday. Changes would be constant. its a pity it can't index in the evening but i guess that would negate the whole point of spotlight. Hmmm funny how such a good new feature looses its appeal in a network environment. Maybe Pengu's comment...

Ahhhh i hope so. I am going to update my server to 10.4 too... maybe Spotlight on my clients will be smart enough to look at the Network Volumes index info. here's hoping. Otherwise spotlight is pretty much a no goer for me!

Does spotlight index mounted OSX Server volumes? I noticed it didn't automatically index it and then i noticed i couldn't 'exclude' it from being indexed so i'm assuming it doesn't recognise this kind of voulme?

.............. I've done all of those things except re formatting the disk!!! Arrrggghhh.

Recently for no apparent reason my G4 running 10.3.3 has stopped allowing me to install. Several applications i have tried to install bring up the first install window normally introduction, click Continue to read me and then that's it, I can't click continue again. And infact i need to force...
