Quick question, can you insert ANY CD and read the CD? Because if you want, you may want to try and clear out the PRAM. I had the same problem for the longest time and I could never understand why the CD-ROM would not work. This also caused the same problem you are having with booting off the...

Here's the plan: Remove all RAM but the orig. 128 megabytes of RAM and dosconnect the Jaz drive. Wipe the drive using my PC util. ;) And then try the OSX installer again. Here's a quick question: should I disconnect my IDE Zip drive?

No, I still have a 8 gigabyte drive. But the partition I installed to was 7.8. :eek:

The Jaz drive is SCSI, the Zip is IDE. The RAM that I own, is from Memory X, I would have to guess that the RAM is from a good dealer. The SCSI is down on the motherboard. Is MemoryX a good vendor for RAM? Thanks!

I'm gonna wipe the drive dry using my PC util. See what happens from there.

I let it sit for an hour and it hasn't moved. LOL At this point, I'm going to borrow my friends copy of OS 9.1 amnd install that on the drive, after I do a three pass wipe on it using software that I have. Then I'm going to sell this Mac. Nothing but problems.

Just be happy that you can boot something. :(

I ordered half a gig of RAM. (512 megs.) Add that to one stick of 128 to make 640 megs of RAM. Next upgrade will be a G4 450.... :-) I'll upgrade to 10.2 this weekend.

N/M I got it working. Held down Command + Option + P +R to empty the PRAM. The CD-ROM is now working also, which seemed to be the problem.

Hehe. I really don't have the money right now to buy a new Mac. I'm only 15. :P How would I go about updating the firmware? And yes, that's the computer I use in my sig. I am going to add RAM and upgrade to a G4 chip this summer when I have a job. :-) Greg
