I have a password-protected Western Digital external drive I'd like to securely erase, and I'd like to avoid the long wait that a 3 or 7 pass overwrite takes using Apple's Disk Utility.
Of course, all WD Drives have the option to secure them with a firmware password using their WD Security or...
I'm upgrading from my beloved Mac Pro 5,1 (with Metal video card and 40GB RAM) I've had since 2010 to a new MacBook Pro (because Apple doesn't support installing anything beyond OS 10.14 Mojave on it).
I can't afford a new Mac Pro right now—so that leaves me with the option of a new MacBook Pro...
I know the regular hard drives will overwrite data, I just wasn't sure about solid state drives.
I had heard that they operate differently.
For instance, I'd heard that you can't do secure deletion on SSDs like you can on regular hard drives.

By "move" I mean: holding down Command, then dragging the file to the new hard drive.
For instance, moving 'File Z' from 'Hard Drive A' to 'Hard Drive B' results in there being no visible copy of 'File Z' on 'Hard Drive A' any longer...
I intentionally deleted a year's worth of old text messages from my Messages app.
(These were thousands of messages from dozens of my personal and professional contacts containing videos and photos.)
However, after selecting all the messages prior to deleting them, I accidentally pressed...
I'm using an original Airport Card (not the Airport Extreme Card) with an Airport Express Base Station.
Can I utilize WPA security with this older card or am I only able to utilize WEP?
Do I need to install an Airport Extreme Card in order to utilize WPA security?
