He could be refering to the heartbeat problem. Cable is a bitch cause it is definately not standard :(.
I suggest you look at the Mac forums on whirlpool.net.au there is more relevent info there. I believe there is a fix for the Airport Extreme base station but if you are using the Airport...
D-Link no! Have had problems and some incompatability problems with their Atheros chipped products.
ZcXEL don't know not present here in Australia.
Linksys yes! Good support and relatively stable products.
Bullion maybe. Cheap products but seem to work ok.
Have a look at...
A word of caution!!!
Don't assume future Apple support for a capability that may be inherent in the device but is currently not supported. Support may never happen or worse still support will come with Rev 2 of the device and not be retrospective in its support for earlier products. This has...

You only need the Airport card if you want to connect wirelessly. If you connect to the base station via ethernet there is no need for the card. The one in the Cube is there due to historical reasons. Just a good place to park it. All I do is just turn A/P off on the Cube.
My config...
You may want to do the copy on a PC and reformat the NTFS disk with fdisk on the PC.
The disk utility software in the Applications/Utilities will allow you to partition and format FAT file systems as well. Connect drive, select the drive in the side bar menu in Disk Utility. Select the...
I have the same config except it is with the 'snow' Airport base station.
First, the location you called Airport has to have 2 interfaces:
1. built-in ethernet port
2. airport card
I have an airport card in the cube but I connect via the ethernet. Wireless is used for my Al PB G4 1.0...
See my comments under the Crucial G5 memory updates thread.
Apple memory at least on the G4 and newer is standard memory. But you need to understand memory terminology. Registered or unregistered relates to whether the i/o lines are latched or not. Apple desktop systems use unregistered...
First there is no need to use the Airport Extreme base station there are many alternatives that work well. You will need an Airport card for the G4 but again there are third party options available. But what you will need is to get more knowledge regarding wireless if you want a secure network...
This is one of the best ad-ons you can do. I had an iBook Dual USB but upgraded to a PB G4 several years ago. On my second generation PB G4 Al 1 GHz. So you want to upgrade the hard drive....
The iBooks (you don't say what model you have) are not as easy to break into as the PB models as far...
One thing you get to understand is cats own you not visa versa. My wife is owned by several cats (12 of them) as well as being a cat judge and up to her neck in cat orginisations ::love:: I guess you would say I'm very tolerant!
Yes the Cube's power switch is a capacitance sense switch so it...
One obvious question is to check if the files are locked. Select one of the files and do a cmd i. Look to see if the locked tick box is checked. You may need to be logged in as an administrator to do the unlock.
Hi,
I've had many Macs over the years and I got my wife a Cube. It is the 450 MHz version stock in all respects except it has:
- 768 Mb Ram
- 80 MB WD 7200 RPM 8Meg Cache
- Airport card
- Apple 15" LCD display
Very workable configuration. Memory and disk are important for speed...
Problem 1) Apple clearly states that Bluetooth is only available as a BTO option for all their systems PM G5, iMac G5, PB G4 etc. Seems like you assumed too much!
Problem 2) Apple generally does not make spare parts (electronics) available through their dealer network except on a return...
You do not state what G4 platform you are using. If it is an early PCI graphics G4 (Yikes motherboard) you would be better spending your money on a later G4 or possibly the iMac G5. If it is a later G4 (Sawtooth or later motherboard) then some updates are possible. Again Viro's comments are spot on.
If you read all the items on MacFixit about the firmware upgrade you will see that it also affects Apple memory as well! It seems to be slot related with the first two slots being more stable. Apple is supposedly working on a 'fix'. Nothing wrong with firmware upgrades but they generally are not...
