Thanks iconara, I know that they use different filing systems, the problem is that the machine can't see the OSX disk even when booted from an OS9 CD, since my previous post I've re-initialised the Linux disk and installed OSX onto it and now the machine can't see that either!!!! I'll try...

Big problem, just installed Yellow Dog Linux on one hard disk on one of my machines (beige G3 266) and now that machine cannot see the other disk with OSX on it, but if I use the OSX install disk and run disk utility it is seen. Did a reinstall but no luck. Any theories anybody? Jonski

What are the different implications of using OSX on different machines, the reason I ask that on one of my machines (G4 DP500) OSX is rock solid in everything I do but on my other machine (G3 266) it's always falling over. Both have seperate hard disks for OSX and OS9 and the only difference...

Had this problem several times on one machine (G3 266) but never on the other (G4 DP500), only solution is to re-install OS9. When done, boot back into OS9 BEFORE OSX, don't know why but if you don't OSX will grey screen. Out of interest did you have OSX Public Beta before installing OSX.
