i can't seem to copy or do anything with my external drive all of a sudden. the ownership & permissions are read only and the pulldown is grey uner properties. owner is unlocked but i just don't know how to set my permissions?
I have 1.5 terrabytes of hard drive space and each drive is partitioned into 5 separate partitions. everytime i restart the computer i have to organize my drives on the desktop. is there anyway for the drives to stay in the spot i last left them after a shutdown?

Thanks but i managed to delete almost everything in my trash with the Terminal window. I'm wondering if this is a band aid solution however? I wanted to verify and possibly repair my main HD but when i go to the disk utility, even after high lighting the drive the buttons to repair or verify are...
