Thanks for the suggestion, but I think that it's better not to ask her to open the case, I don't think she's able to deal with jumpers and things like that... and I can't phisically help her, 'cause she lives 700 km away from my city... I think that she can use it as it work now until her pc...

We tried, she was able to set all the options (format, hot to erase,...) but when pressed erase, a icon popped up saying there was an error... do you think that we have to unmount the volume to format it via Disk Utility, or not?

Have you tried to click on the small arrow on the left of the field in which you type the name of the file you're saving?

try to set a new user and see if it still happens, maybe there are some corrupt preferences files for your account...

have you tried to repair permissions on your volume?

oh, that's a windows exectuable, you can't open it on a Mac unless you have VirtualPC, a quite expensive application that can emulate a windows environment on your Mac... if you tell us which kind of application is that one, maybe we can tell you which kind of app you need on a mac for that use...

you can create password protected .dmg to store your files... you can do them using Disk Utility...

Can you select the Application folder, then click [apple]+[i] and report what you see in the Ownership and Permission pane?

Go to Applications/Utilities/ and launch Disk Utility... Then click on the First Aid panel, select your volume (normally named Macintosh HD) and then click on repair disk permission...

Also, are you using Filevault? I remember about many problems from people using that tool...
