Boot to DOS on Intel Macbook

Sorry to necropost, felt like a trip down memory lane to time when I used to work with Macs. The DOS bootdisk I used was a Windows 95 bootdisk, which I got from: http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm. It worked well enough to load ghost and copy a hard drive image across IPX. That was with a...

"Mount" a Directory inside a Shared folder

Ah right, I see what your saying now. Making aliases seems the way to go as I haven't found anything else. So now i just have to script it so it mounts the share with the users credential, and then make a ln to the folder. I've found that if you put a alias in the sidebar it seems to act...

"Mount" a Directory inside a Shared folder

Yeah - that'll let it reconnect to the, but I want it to map to a folder inside the share. ie i want \\server\share\folder to be mount, not just \\server\share (which is what it does by default) Ive looked around the net for the last few hours and found no easy way of doing this. I just...

"Mount" a Directory inside a Shared folder

Sorry, it wasn't clear in the question, they will be using mac os and connecting to a windows server. When I use "connect to server" on mac os, it places an icon on the desktop that links to the root of the share, and although the user could browse through the directories, I'd rather have it...

I want to create a applescript program to allow users to access their userspaces on a Windows server. I would like to know if it's possible to to mount \\server\share\directory\user so that it appears as a Folder on the deskop. I know about "connect to server", but that only maps to the...

xp boot camp issues on mac pro desktop

    1. not sure, is it an apple wireless keyboard, or a third party one? 2. This might work: In windows there is a small Silver speaker in the system tray (bottom right, next to the time). Double click it. Then in the window that appears click onto the options menu then properties. There...

Boot to DOS on Intel Macbook

On the Macbook pro the wired Network card is a marvell yukon. If you go here: http://www.marvell.com/drivers/search.do and just search for "yukon". (Not sure if that'll be the same for your macmini, but if you put windows on it and check device manager, you should be able to work it out.)...

Boot to DOS on Intel Macbook

Well I found a way to do it, so I'll post it up for reference. Firstly, using nero, I started a new bootable CD and used the contents of a DOS Bootdisk. Then I installed rEFIt on the Macbook (http://refit.sourceforge.net/), which is a custom bootloader. I put the CD in the drive and...

Boot to DOS on Intel Macbook

Yeah fryke is right, we (still) use dos to get an image onto our computers. I suppose if you can make a dmg of an NTFS partition in Disk Utility, I wouldn't need DOS. So can you only boot from an XP install disk, or can you boot from other things such as linux install disks?

Boot to DOS on Intel Macbook

Is it possible to boot into DOS on a Intel Mac? I guess it wouldn't like a USB Floppy Drive, but maybe a regular bootdisk copied to a CD and made Bootable? Why I want to know is that there is a possiblity of us getting 20 Macbooks and dual booting, but I'd like to be able...

10.2.8 User Capabilities list (Accounts prefs) not listing all applications

Well, I found a way to do it. I used finder to search for all files that were applications on the hard disk, and then just draged them into the Capibilities List. I've used windows too long, not used to just drag'n'droppin everything. I'd still like to know how the list is controlled, or...

10.2.8 User Capabilities list (Accounts prefs) not listing all applications

The macs are standalone. There are two accounts on each mac, and Admin and a user. All the students will be using the user. I want to restrict access on that User account certain apps. I am doing that using System Preferences > Accounts > (Select User) > Capibilities. My problem...
