Ikes.. never mind.... they did it to me again... a tar with-in a sit file... this time they didn't name the file with a .sit on the end .. I was trying to tar a sit file ....

well shoot... I downloaded the whole 69 meg OS X development tar file... but when I run via the CLI ... tar -xf 11.7.19.DownloadSoftware.1.1 I get Cpio file name lenght "NUM" is out of range error on every file ?? I'll re-dl I guess...

I'm grabing 69.8 megs of it as I type here.... he he... I never noticed the online membership was free before, that should tell you how well I read 11 point print !

What's funny to me, having been a long time Wintel user until last year... Is the lack of some of the simple things... My main grip at the moment being plain John-Doe code/html editors with the most complexity being syntax color coding, nothing more..... I used HomeSite in Windows for years...

He.. He.... X system requirements should read... All G3 and G4 systems 128mb of ram [ Technicaly functionaly ] 256+mb of ram [ Technicaly fun ] humm... if only the keyboard polling would speed up here... I'm constantly having to make sure what I type gets printed ;)

Just a note.... I had 192mb on one system running X and swaped out a 64 with a 128 to bring me to 256, normally under OS 9 this small jump in memory would only show via more applications can be opened or able to give more to one specific app.... Well, my observation wiht X is... WOW... you...

Anyone know by any chance if someone is working on a port of VNC over to OS X ?

I can't even get JediKnight to work, so I downloaded IRCStep .57 ... works but I can't read a darn thing because the text in the chat window is at size 6 and if I open the Fonts panel and select a different size it seems to only effect every other line ... What's the deal ? I need Mirc for X...

Well, I tracked the exact file down that causes things not to display, if the hidden file named " icon| " is there, files will not display... it's not any of the other hidden folders and files that cause this... I thought it was at first, but just tried a few things and found it to be that...

Ahhh... Haaa.... Thanks... It was the "Dot" thing, those shares that I was having problems with, were shares that I mounted using DAVE under OS 9, and OS 9 places those files like .AppleDouble and so on. I'm one who never had a problem with DAVE, but I'm also one who doesn't care what it is...
