Safari: Can someone hit the bug button for me ?

Just delete the ~/Library/Safari folder and it'll fire up again...

    GCC3.2 build from source.

Hi folks, Has anyone managed to build GCC from the GNU.org source tree ? I need to build a cross compiler for powerpc-linux and xscale-linux for a project with Monta Vista Linux, and I'd like to do my dev work on my PowerBook natively instead of using linux on VirtualPC. For some reason...

    Java 1.4.x - Desperate.

Yup, you're right. The Java Virtual machine is not ready yet for MacOSX. I don't know what the hold up is exactly, but it's annoying. I'd rather get something out sooner and update frequently, but that's just me i guess.

    Java 1.4.x - Desperate.

I'm a developer and I'm being forced off my mac simply because Apple are now too far behind in the Java stakes. I've waited, and waited, and waited for Java 1.4 but so far nothing. No, of course, 1.4.1 is available for PC's. At first I could muddle my way through and have some special...

    RIP Apple PDA rumors, hopes...

Friend of mine works in the PDA group at apple. They finished the software, they bug fixing etc now. He was expecting a MW press release, but it didn't happen. This device is said to "revolutionize" PDA usage. it's not a PDA you'd recognize as a PDA. Get it ? I don't know much more...

    Anyone tried the PS2 emulator - BluePS2?

I used to use the ps1 emulator from the folks who made softwindows 98... can't remember the name, they sold the rights to someone. It used to work ok on os9, decent speed on a 233 imac. Now I have a PS2 and imagine that it would be very difficult to emulate, there is some verrrry hairy...

    TiBook Airport Reception

I have done the mods to the airport base station to use the wavelan antenna. Works great. Be aware that the wavelan extender is also directional, I have to "re adjust" my direction almost everday because the cat uses it's location as a launch pad. I've also noticed "teeth marks" on it, but...

    Sprint PCS Wireless Internet Opinions.

CDMA 2000 can burst to 144kbs, verizon rolled this out already but have limited information on field tests. Some of my friends in Europe have GPRS phones, also with an "advertised" 2.5G data rate, but mostly are getting 32kbs when they sit right under the transmitters. I'll be really...

    tibook audio in

I have an iMic and used it a few times to convert audible content into MP3's... since Audible have seen fit to not release any kind of OSX player I find it easier for me to loop-back the audio out into the iMic and record the Audible output for later playback as an MP3. I used SoundStudio OSX...

    iBook vs TiBook

I bought my G/Friend an iBook with a DVD drive for christmas, I think it's 700mhz, but can't remember now... it was the one apple obsoleted. I also have a 400mhz TiBook that I use for work everyday (and a nice brand new dual 1 gig for home usage - v.cool) The TiBook 400 blows away the...

    Sprint PCS Wireless Internet Opinions.

I was just about to do that too, but may wait a couple of months. SprintPCS is on the brink of rolling out CDMA2000 service, which has busrt bit rates upto 144kbs (G2.5), muuuuch better than the 14k4 or so you'll get from Sprints current network. I used to do this with a Nokia 8890 on...

    TiBook getting HOT!!!

My 400mhz gets hot too. Verrrrry hot. But then again I'm using it at a high load most of the time... compiling code and running virtual PC etc. As for the battery, TiBook batteries are (I believe) Lithium Ion, these supposedly don't have the "memory" problem of NiMh batteries of a fewyears...

    Quiet hard drive for iBook?

I just went out and bought the new 60gig travelstar from IBM, I dropped it into the drive space on my TiBook 400mhz and slapped the cover back on, powered up the drive and was convinced that I'd forgot to hook it up. It's silent, I mean really silent (except for head chatter when it's doing...

    Apple II experienced users...

I used apple ]['s for many, many years at an apple dealer in the UK, then I moved to Silicon Valley. You can pickup Apple]['s with language cards for about $20 here (working) :-) The place is called "Weirdstuff", it's in Sunnyvale about a mile from where I live. Cool place, lots of old...

    Eh... Apple hyped to much!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a twenty plus year veteran of the computer industry, working on everything from Apple ]['s to IBM 3090 mainframes. I now own a TiBook and an iMac (old strawberry) and just bought my significant other an iBook for Christmas. I can honestly say that this TiBook beats the pants off any PC...
