The fonts are damaged. Photoshop is just displaying the damaged behavior. This isn't a problem with Photoshop, it's a problem with your fonts. Reinstall them from good backup files from the foundary where you purchased the fonts.

But the OSX system software should allow me to set the resolution and arrangement for any monitor. The monitor itslef isnt' the issue. it works fine. The issue is the ability of the OS to see the dual display.
