    looks like it was just a problem with being cheap and buying crappy flat screens. :( when i hooked the computer up to apple displays and viewsonic displays they looked fine, so i guess there is a lot of truth in the old addage, you get what you pay for.

    the prefs thing doens't work because i wanted to keep it executing /usr/bin/login, but the NetInfo works. thanks again damn NetInfo... wonderful in the end but painful for migration from NetBSD...

    My problem is similar except that I have a lot of purple like in my trash can and some of my icons are dis colored in System Manager and some pictures come up with bits of purple in them. :( I'm not sure whats up. I noticed it after I switched to Mag flatscreen displays...
