    Need Confirmation

If anyone knows Hebrew, supposedly Gadgetim.co.il is claiming Yonah-based laptops and an iPod-branded phone...

    GCC Missing Header File

The problem isn't on my Mac, it's on Windows, using cygwin, which creates a Linux/unix like environment for compiling code on Windows.

    GCC Missing Header File

I'm trying to compile some code in cygwin in Windows, and it's trying to include <ar.h>. This header exists at /usr/include/ but GCC doesn't see it, it just says I tested the exact same code on my Mac and it worked fine: Is there something I have to do in GCC or somewhere else to let it know...

iPod pauses at random intervals...help please!

Please don't use "bump" posts - if someone knows an answer, they'll post. Things you can do: restore your iPod to the latest iPod software (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download). If problem continues, check to see if it's happening with the same songs, or random songs. If it's the same songs...

    Shuffle's USB = Dead

OK I think my shuffle's USB connection is dead. When I connect it to my Mac, my PC or another PC, it won't connect. But just the other day it was working fine on my Mac! The shuffle works fine and plays music like normal, but I can't connect it to any computer :( I tried resetting it, but I'm...

    New! Slimmed Down Site Layout

Actually, I like the ads being green. It makes them appear to stand out more, and you can ignore them more because you know they aren't a part of the website. When they blend it it's harder to read past them..

    Why use Linux?

I'm extremely bored right now and am downloading Ubuntu 5.1 Live CD (for PPC) and was wondering for those of you who use Linux and Mac OS X: Why do you use Linux if you have Mac OS X? What applications do you run in Linux that you can't (or do not want to?) run in OS X? Also, do you run...

Scott, I love this new tighter look! It works much better than before on my eyes. It's also much easier to read the text on the page. I'm also glad you gave us an option to use the column view for threads. Thanks! :)

    Mono and Visual Studio .NET

If I compile a C# .NET console application on my PC, will it run without changes on my Mac with Mono installed? Or how about the opposite - if I compile a console app in Mono on my Mac, will it run in Windows without changes? (I could experiment but I'm lazy :p)

    macupdate.com gives away. :)

MacUpdate is hands down the best site of its kind. I cringe everytime I go to VersionTracker.com - so ugly! Plus, I've chatted a few times with the guys who run MacUpdate, and they're friendly and very responsive (my apps are listed on their site).

    iPod Nano running video

The 1G/2Gs can play back b&w vidoes using iPodLinux, but Apple's not going to upgrade the firmware to support this :D

    iPod Nano running video

I'm talking about when you play a video on the 5G, and then hit Menu to go do something else on the iPod, it stops the movie. Meaning, the iPod can't playback video AND control the GUI at the same time, which most likely means it's using all of its power to process the video (and the video's...

    iPod Nano running video

No way will Apple allow the nano to playback videos. It's too small and probaby doesn't have a fast enough processor to handle it (notice how in all iPods except 5G you can play music AND use the GUI, but in 5G you can't play a video AND use the GUI because it's most likely using both processors...
