    App Store problem

Several months ago, the Mac App Store was having trouble downloading updates; somehow it fixed itself after a few weeks. I know that Messenger for Facebook needs updating as the app says so. Only place to get it is Apple App Store. Skip ahead to a week ago. App Store (icon in my dock) says 1...

    Airbook won’t turn on

You say it can't be repaired, yet you state it has a brand new battery. Who did it? You?--retrace your installation. Someone else?--have them do the same.

    CCleaner, and Cleaners in general

Whatever I have open at the time I'm done for the night gets collapsed to the dock. Having a laptop, I just close the lid which is essentially putting the Mac to sleep. I have NO automatic updates--i need to know what is being updated! The only benefit to leaving my Mac open is for Spotlight to...

    CCleaner, and Cleaners in general

I used to exclusively watch Fox for news & comment, but the Murdochs turned sour and now lean left; I've switched to NewsMax. Enough said; I do not wish to turn this thread into a political fight.

You do know that was written for PCs, right? Seems your previous life with PCs left an indelible stain on you. :)

IMHO, you are overly cautious to the point of borderline paranoid. :) You are just making a lot of extra work for yourself. Maybe Weekly, but monthly would keep you safe---assuming you are keeping up with OS operating systems. Just what does that app clean out other than cookies? And why...

How can I limit outgoing calls to 5 minutes in 13.6?

I just don't understand! Are you on the $1/month plan? I know this is Japan, but every plan I have ever seen or heard of includes calling & text. Yes, you pay for data, but in this day & age, the rest is included in your plan. Ok, they may limit your texts, and even phone calls to a certain...

    Which Whiskey you like?

Speaking of Scotch, I had an unopened bottle of 21 year old Ballaninne's until last year when my son & daughter-in-law discovered it. They had a few shots then, and I occasionally have a few myself. Very good stuff! I'm sure that it doesn't age in the bottle, but I inherited this bottle, still...

    Which Whiskey you like?

Rye whiskey is my go-to sippin' whiskey. At 100 proof, there's no such thing as smooth, but Old Forrester or Rittenhouse are somewhat smooth.

Mac OS X 10.4.11 only working in Safe Mode

"....and (I think) resetting the SMC. If I didn't do it right (unplugging it and leaving it overnight) please correct me :)" If I remember correctly, there is a small black 'button' near the power supply. DeltaMac will correct me if I'm mistaken.

Restart tries to launch application on external disk.

If you do not use it, then delete it and all traces of it (prefs etc). Use an app such as EasyFind and search for it AND the developer's name and delete all occurrences, both visible and invisible.

Updating/Restoring iPhone using a downloaded ipsw file

I have no idea where you are from, but may I suggest you go someplace with good WiFi internet. That could be public buildings, healthcare facilities, restaurants, friends/neighbors homes, or even your phone carrier's store. From there, just update through the phone and forget all this ipsw file...

Anyone Buying M1 MacBook Pro, Air, or Mini?

Oh how I wish! Although my '15 MBP is doing quite well, I am very impressed with the reports and stats I see published on the M1s. However tempting, though, I will wait for a 16" MBP--13" is just way too small. (I remember the days I HAD to downsize from my beloved 17" MBP to a 15" MBP when...

    Mackeeper Ad

If you do a search for 'Mackeeper' on this site, you'll find a whole lot of anti Mackeeper statements along with many many problems with it. WHY, then, are they allowed to advertise here? The pros and amateurs, alike, recommend to NEVER install Mackeeper.

I have switched over to Firefox for the needs I have for Flash.

    Flash

Is there any way to use Flash in Safari 14? Yes, I know it's despised, yes I know it's going away 12/31. I play a few games that require Flash. Worst case senario, I do have a .dmg of Safari 13.1.2

    Energy?

Cheryl, now that you mention it, I'm inclined to think that Safari 13.1.2 is the culprit. I see no difference whether I dismiss it or reload.
