    iBook battery doesn't charge

You can't 'reset' you battery. It is quite obviously faulty, just take it back and get a nice shiny new one, problem solved.

I found an Easter Egg in 10.2!

I was more referring to chemistry_geek yelling at me about an IP address he could never accress over the internet. Whatever. I've never heard of 'That demented cartoon movie' before, I just kinda derived it from the, I believe but don't quote me on this, Japanese word kamikazee, just spelled it...

I found an Easter Egg in 10.2!

Yes, it only occurs when I open the Sharing pane and System Preferences is lagging out, it appears for a couple seconds. Try running a ton of stuff on your computer to bog it down and then opening System Prefs and going to the Sharing Pane? Best tried on a similarly slow machine like my iBook...

I found an Easter Egg in 10.2!

WOw, I would really like to thank a few certain people who have found it necessary to be complete assholes to me and pick apart my quote of all things and also yell at me for not blotching out an IP address you could never access on the internet in the first place when it realtes not even in the...

I found an Easter Egg in 10.2!

I just got it to happen again today. I took my iBook out of my backpack and was setting it up here at home. I opened System Preferences and clicked the sharing pane. For some reason it takes a really long time to load, and I realized internet sharing was already on when the net worked on my...

I found an Easter Egg in 10.2!

I found an Easter Egg in 10.2 totally on accident this morning while trying to turn off all sharing on my iBook before bringing it to school. I opened the System Preferences and clicked the 'Sharing' pane. At this point, System Prefs stopped responding for a couple minutes and very slowly loaded...

Open firmware: reset commands (locked out of everything else)?

Just a sidenote: it's NVRAM, Non-Volitile-Random-Access-Memory, which stores all these commands.

    I need more ram!!!!

Try running an older version of Windows in VPC. 95/98 will run considerably better in VPC than 2000 will anyday, especially on your machine.

    network - is this possible?

I believe certain 3rd party PCI wireless cards are Airport compatable. I can't recall which ones off the top of my head, but perhaps a google search for this could help you out.

    Damn them...damn them to hell!

    playing/converting .asf files?

I just downloaded some music videos today that were in the .asf format. I know Windows Media Player plays them, but I really want a better solution. Neither QuickTime nor VLC will open them. Better yet, if anyone knows how I could convert them to some flavor of a .mov or a mpeg that would be nice.

    Speed up rebooting in Jaguar

Actually there shouldn't be any real need to do the fsck. If you force-restart your computer it automatically does it, that's why Jag takes a really long time to boot sometimes after a hard-restart. Unless you do something under normal use to corrupt your filesystem this is quite unnecessary...

    iBook battery % Jaguar

Mine has actually suddenly been doing that since I've installed Jaguar as well, I don't think my battery is that worn, my iBook is plugged in most of the time. I've had it go to sleep with 43% battery remaining and it would not wake until I plugged it back in. Usually it goes in the 30's but...

It's been a while...do you leave your machine on?

All my computers are pretty much always on. I wouldn't worry about them overheating, unless it's a PC, of course. Believe it or not but leaving your computer on 24/7 puts far less wear on it than turning it off and on all the time. Startup puts a lot of needless wear on the components that is...

    Appropriate Price for a G4/450?

Find the cost of a refurbished one from some online retailer and cut that in half, give a little leeway on the higher side of the price, and there you go.
