I think Job's is very mad that IBM still hasn't hit the 3 GHz mark. I also think there's probably no way MacOS X will run on all x86 hardware -- Apple and Intel will probably make a propietary PPC chip. Maybe OS X would be faster on an Intel chip (not simply because of a higher clock speed)?

My friend asked me if his powerbook (15", 1.33GHz, aluminum) is supposed to have come with a backlit keyboard. I wasn't sure, but his doesn't light up. Were these models supposed to ship with it standard? Or was this extra? (he bought his PB about 6 months ago)

I have been using my uncle's dual G5 and Toast 6 to backup my DVD movies. However, I no longer have access to that machine, and therefore Toast. It is a pretty expensive program, and i really only used it to burn movies playable in my computer and most DVD players, so i can't really justify...

Well any blanket statement about anything should be taken with a grain of salt. But i have to say my PowerBook never once crashed in 2 years of having it, while in the same time period my parent's PC has crashed 2 times that i can remember -- not a big deal, but i use my powerbook seemingly...

The current version of VirtualPC is not fully compatible with Tiger, yet. I think.

And sometime's Apple uses it in places where it shouldn't (iChat, for example) as it doesn't conform to the HIG

If you want the brushed metal look, it's easier to do so in Interface Builder by selecting the "Has Texture" option on the main window's attributes.

Hmm...i'm not having any problems with Spotlight.

FINALLY! So i was futsing around with some of the cool graphics tools that come with XCode 2.0 on the Tiger install DVD. I made my way to Quartz Debug, and looked around a bit, found something called Beam Sync, which sounded interesting. I disabled Beam Sync, and now Exposé works...

My epson cx5400 has been running fine with the Panther drivers...

looks neat. I tried configuring it to look like that for a little while...i find DragThing very unintuitive, though.

Clean install. No haxies (don't run them normally). But i didn't even import any documents. Exposé is still performing badly when more than 2 windows need to be "Exposéd". I repaired permissions, ran fsck, etc.. One thing i did notice...when the Dock is visible, Exposé is even choppy...

I'm gonna try a clean install of Tiger and then 10.4.1 before installing anything else, just to see if this cures my expose problems. I'll let you guys know.
