why doesn’t auto fill work any more?

Back in the olden days, prior to the latest OS updates, I could rely on auto fill on the iPad by pressing my thumb. Sometimes sort of occasionlly works now. So, into settings, keychain, look up site, highlight, copy, go back, paste…. save…. doesn’t. Back in the olden days, I would click on send...

    Have I been hacked?

Every day there seems to be something squirrelly I haven't had to deal with before. Two days ago, I started not to be able to send iMessages from the Mac (have been able for years). I've searched the answers online, jumped the hurdles and hoops, started/stopped, rebooted, iPhone and mac. Can...

Get everything back on desktop and docs from iCloud

Well, in the meantime, I think I stopped the iCloud upload. Even when I took the computer offline, it kept ticking down. I did this step, then started dragging files and folders back to the document folder on the local drive (Mac mini) I did find a bunch of things to delete in the process so...

Get everything back on desktop and docs from iCloud

Okay, stupid me. I thought that the iCloud was going to work like dropbox and keep a local copy of all my desktop/documents and upload to the iCloud. How do I get everything back from iCloud onto my MacMini. Simply. When I deselect "desktop etc" I get this: Which is exactly the opposite of what...

Costly mistake with monitor and MBP

Thanks, but still looking for the "just simply" confirmation. Leaving the laptop open and using the battery with the monitor, keyboard and mouse connected is the way to go, correct? I just watched an innerwebs YouTOOOBe and the guy did a great presentation. Then at the end he says, "and if you...

closing the lid causes issues with external monitors

Question: Are you able to do this with the laptop unplugged from power? We just discovered our 2019 MBP is bulging and would be $400+ to repair because we used it primarily as a hard drive plugged in all the time.

Costly mistake with monitor and MBP

Our 2019 MBP is now a serving tray. The lithium battery is bulging, and since Applecare is done (and this model isn’t in the battery issue program) it will cost over $400 to fix. Here's what happened: We used the laptop mostly as a hard drive plugged in all the time with a monitor, mouse and...

    previewing docs in iCloud?

I want to use the iCLOUD as a secondary back up, I really do, but I'm really struggling here. Attached is what I see on just a couple text docs. Is there no way to see what the documents are? Imagine 150? What am I missing here? Secondly, If I do a backup of everything on the HD (100gb) and...

Chrome no longer saves passwords since Big Sur upgrade

Don't you have to enter all your passwords into 1 Password to do that? KeyChain for Mac is excellent and free. Don't really care at this point. I only use Edge when absolutely necessary, like with software designers don't create a website that works with Safari. Since I can't get them to play...

"Everyone" the operative word here. Sheeple.

Chrome no longer saves passwords since Big Sur upgrade

I was probably typing, "Don't know Edge" and I didn't even see autocorrect corrected into other words. It would have probably made more sense if it had been corrected to "Don't no Wedge." LOL

Chrome no longer saves passwords since Big Sur upgrade

I recently purchased a writing/editing program and was really pissed I had to reinstall Chrome, just to be able to download the program. Then I had to go online and search for "where is it?" so I could then watch the YouTube video to find out where it was secreted away in some new rabbit hole...

Chrome no longer saves passwords since Big Sur upgrade

I gave up months ago. I recently purchased a writing/editing program and was really pissed I had to reinstall Chrome, just to be able to download the program. Then I had to find where it was hidden (Chrome. App. Files. Bull) or some crap; then once downloaded I used AppZapper to remove it again...

Opinions wanted on "Automatically keep my Mac up to date"

Funny! Personally, I wait for the biggies and just do the securities as they come. I always love it after an upgrade of some sort that suddenly I'm opting into things I opted out of, or I'm getting notifications that were turned off, or alerts that I don't want... and I have to stop. and. then...

Chrome no longer saves passwords since Big Sur upgrade

Don't now Brave. Will check it out. I don't use Chrome anymore unless I'm checking something for a client re: ads or something and I need to see it "in the raw."

Air drop not working on one, fine on the other. Why?

This is a mystery. I'm missing something. Both phones are on the same network. Both are 11s. Both same OS. Software updates done. #1 Connects to AIR DROP with no issue, instantly to both the MacMini and the Laptop. #2 says "No one in the area to share." Doesn't connect. Phones are same age...

Smart Boxes no longer work; email slow; flags are gone

I've never set up the iCloud because, like loyalty cards at grocery stores, ace hardware, cvs, walgreens etc etc. I had reached my limit. But I get it. I have a couple friends that only use the iCloud mail and a branded. I'll check it out again.

Smart Boxes no longer work; email slow; flags are gone

I have my own domain name. I use it for some things. I'm semi retired and use it for freelance gigs. The thing is, the reason I have the Gmail accounts, is over the years, they have been the most stable. I had to switch host providers a few times in the past decade because the website domain...
