Is this going to be available as a free download? I can't see the point in paying for something that isn't really necessary, and is going to be eclipsed by 10.3 in a few months. Any rumors on the cost of 10.3?

That doesn't sound so good to me. It's the same as a non-educational upgrade. Could I be missing something here?

Speed is a nice feature when you're doing 22 GB, but I wouldn't let that be the determinator. I want capacity! Any idea which of these formats, or both, are compatible with the standard home DVD player? Do you know when we can expect to see them come to market?

I agree that $2000 isn't necessarily insane, but it would buy a 23" Cinema Display, too. I'm looking for info on who else has got something in the wings....that's what brings the price down.

I read that Sony is producing a 17GB DVD burner for a ridiculous price...something like 2K :D Anyone heard of anything new in the DVD R arena, other than the Sony thing? Sure would like to have 9 GB available.

I've copied a couple of DVD's to the harddrive, but when playing them back through DVD Player, they seem to skip and occasionally they freeze the application. The machine is a G-4 Dual 450 with 1.5GB ram and over a half terabyte (:D Terabyte- what a hoot!) of harddisk storage. Nothing else...

What does the rumor mill think will make Panther an enhanced OSX? I have no kicks with 10.2.4; I have more complaints with the hardware, like not enough audio support.

First it was OSX that made so many devices unuseable, then Jaguar vaporized the functionality, again, of many peripherals that had been expensively restored, like scanners, printers, and many other utility devices. I'd hate to see Panther do the same thing all over again.

Is this a Mac program, and will it do a bite-for-bite copy to a DVD as well as to a CD? If so, where can I find it. Thanks for the reply.

Is it possible to copy a DVD movie to the harddrive so that it can be played back, and if so, how? I had seen a thread in this forum, but am unable to find it now. Thanks
