So, it rebooted again while asleep. I looked at Users-Library-Logs-DiagnosticReports and it appears that Spyder3utility is the cause. As it doesn't have its own uninstall, I used appcleaner, and searched for any remnant files (in hidden files also) and could find none. I assumed that appcleaner...

That installed OK, and thanks for the detailed explanation. I have always assumed that the OS updater would get the full and comprehensive version. I assume that once the combined update has installed, future updates from the OS auto updater will suffice?
