You can just turn the brightness down all the way, via the F1 key. At least, that's where the key is on my 14" iBook I bought nary 6 months ago. It may have changed when they revamped the iBook line.

Get an app called Clutter (you can find in on versiontracker); it will automatically download the album cover of the currently playing track. You can then copy it from the app directly into the Album Cover field in the Info dialog. Cuts out about half the steps of other methods. Best of all...
