    ftpd: illegal option

1 other thing: I'm getting the following output if I give it long enough in ftp once I've telnetted outside of the LAN & ftp'd into it: "ftp: connect: No route to host" Noel

    ftpd: illegal option

Ok, I guess...if it's of interest, the version of etc/inetd.conf I've got had this line in it: 'ftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/libexec/ftpd ftpd -l -a' I got the -a out of there, & now it lets me in. The issue I've got now is I'm on 100Mbps & getting a list of files (i.e., 'ls' in...

    Windows Xp

I installed XP beta 1 not too long ago, in order to get a look at it, etc. Overall, the interface isn't very good (of course) but one thing I liked is it gives one an immense variety of options: logging out/in, interface options, etc. Obviously, osX isn't going to be an inferior OS; but I'd...

    ftpd: illegal option

I'd originally gotten that opinion, too; only I get the "ftpd: illegal option -- a" in Terminal (i.e., it's not only a Vicom issue). & Interarchy isn't opening it. One idea I had is that I installed Tenon's iTools, & then uninstalled it (I've got OmniWeb & I guess it's incompatible, one with...

In OS 9.1, Vicom FTP Client I input the hostname, login, etc. & it gives...: (view image)

    Icon Spacing

Oh, indeed... +1 on the level of interest in this one. One other thing I'm getting is the feeling that View Options isn't living up to its obligations (i.e., on login I'll get icons over on the left, etc.) I'm looking for info on these issues, too. Noel

    ftpd: illegal option

I've got an issue getting ftp to open for me. I've got it on & if I go to log into it I get the following: 'ftpd: illegal option -- a' I've looked for info on this, & the impression I've gotten is I'm the only one it's occurring to. I'd be very grateful for any info... Noel

    Folder icon colors (a.k.a. Labels)

No. In my opinion, if osX introduced Labels, it'd generally be viewed as an original & innovative idea. I've not opted to go with Labels very often on folders in OS 9, but I liked the option & the idea that I had it once in a while. I get a little frustrated with the "out with the old, in with...

I'd be very interested in getting one of the older versions instead... ;/

    VNC (Virtual Network Computing)

Ok...I've got that installed, open it & give the IP of a Linux I'd like to get on (it's got vnc installed on it, too...only it's not here & I'm not the one who installed it). I get the following: "OTConnect failed" ;/ Noel

    Web Browsers for OS X

Indeed...in that OmniWeb's not very intuitive. I imported a folder into the Favorites list & I like that option. Goto: http://garm.dyndns.org/odin/1.0/OSX/Images/OmniWeb.jpg if interested to view the outcome. Otherwise, that's the only interface issue I've got in OmniWeb overall... ;)

    Web Browsers for OS X

I'm looking very forward to new versions of OmniWeb. It is, in my opinion, the only one that is going to be fully optimized for OS X 1.0 once it's out; & it is of course the only one that *looks good* overall. I'm giving it a lot of optimism, I guess, in that ideally it's not going to have the...

    Installing additional Fonts

Oh... ;) I guess I ought to get those other fonts I installed into Library/Fonts instead! Thanks, of course. Noel

    overwrite Finder icon...

Ok...I got it! (Overwrote the generic folder icon, too...) IMO, if I'm in Graphite, the OS ought to invoke Graphite folder icons on its own...oh well. ;) Thanks! Noel

Is the OS 9 finder carbonized? if it is forget Aqua!!

Once again, it's an issue of "out with the old" vs. "in with the new." I like the idea of giving it as an _option_ on 1st login. If I like the OS 8/9 Finder, it gives me that instead. Otherwise, I'll get the new one: it's included. &, if I like, I go in General Controls, etc. later on in order...
