    OSX 10.04 - 10.1 Patch... Why not?

Those same cards have been included with older versions the Mac OS for several years, I remember getting them with my 8.0 upgrade I bought, they are not anything specific to X put there to make you wonder if the OS isn't ripe yet. In general; a little bitter are we? you have not been singled...

Drive and File utilities for X

Norton 6 says it is for OS X so it should be safe, although I suppose I should install it onto one of the other partions and check for updates via the web.

    10.1 for download

I've read, on several reputable mac news sites over the past few days (maccentral for one), that apple is making the 10.1 upgrade available for free at its stores and dealers. There are varying opinions as to which dealers will be included. Has this bit of news been debunked and I missed it...

Drive and File utilities for X

I'm running a new quicksilver 733 at work with OS X version 10.(nda). Photoshop wouldn't launch because it couldn't find some necessary file, it worked yesterday, so I booted back to 9 and ran norton disk doctor (v6.0) and found TONS of errors on all partitions, some "Major". I had to run it on...

Questions regarding OS X on 2nd internal drive

the instructions for G4's with two internal IDE drives is to put OS X on the "original" drive which I take to mean the "master" drive. I did what I'd outlined above and it wouldnt boot into X after the install. not sure where to go from here.

    Blue Screen on G4/450 Dual

They are charging $30 for a system which won't install easily on their flagship machines, I know as I have a G4/450MP with similar problems to those mentioned above. If this "beta" software is so damn flaky, they should be paying us to debug the shit. My system is about as vanilla as you can...

Questions regarding OS X on 2nd internal drive

I'm going to be putting OS X on my home machine (G4/450MP) but I want to put it on a separate drive. I'll probably be getting an IBM Deskstar 30GB or so. I want to retain my slower 20GB stock drive as my OS 9 drive, but i want to redesignate it as the slave and use the new IBM drive as master...

Can´t boot on OS X beta CD

You have to put X on your master drive, not the slave. And it has to be installed in a partition which is at least partially in the first 8GB of that drive.

Can´t boot on OS X beta CD

It's legit and has been used to install OSX on two other machines (B&W G3s), so shut the hell up. Oh, and we're a developer so we got the CD for free from Apple in case you were about to say "the license is only for one machine!". [Edited by AlanCE on 09-21-2000 at 04:34 PM]

X won't install on either of our Beige G3s

Like DP4, this Beta will not install on either of our Beige G3s. Actually the problem is that neither of these machines will boot from the Beta installer CD. Here's the configurations of each: A: G3/266 desktop upgraded with an IBM 466MHz ZIF. Upgraded the ROMs to Rev.B. Added a Keyspan USB...

    OSX, iMacs, and iBooks

OSX looks to be a real RAM hog, so is Apple going to put 128MB RAM minimum in the little guys (iBook & iMac) when they start shipping with X? I don't see how Apple could do go with less, but Apple seems to like to give people half the RAM they really need ;)

PCI USB on beige G3 supported?

I would think that Keyspan (or whoever makes your USB card) would have to write an OSX driver for their card. I'd be surprised if OSX looked for and had drivers to enable a PCI/USB card. Even though the drivers would be present in the classic environment, I doubt the classic environment...

    OSX Beta on Beige G3

Some people got it to work, but not I. My beige G3 (upgrade to IBM copper 466, RevB ROMS, fast 20GB HD) simply wouldn't boot into X. Hopefully Beta1 will behave better.
