    Safari and GMail

There is a "standard html view" that you can use if you turn off javascript. And sure enough, it gets rid of the annoying tab switching. But, if you use gmail (web-wise) you would probably know that the interface is the only reason to use it. In my opinion, it is very well done. In any...

    Safari and GMail

It seems to be a Safari issue though. It doesn't happen with Firefox. Wouldn't that make it a browser issue? Satcomer - 1.) Thanks for that oh-so-useful advice. 2.) Cookies? Another well thought out response.

    sql group/order by question

Some web references seem to insist that this is possible, but I can't make it happen. I have a table of names. What I want to do is return a list of those names with the number of times those names show up ordered by that number. I would think the following would do what I want...

    360.yahoo.com

JetwingX - 360 seems to be a yahoo all-in-one. You have your own page where you can blog, share photos and all sorts of other weird stuff. I'm not sure it is for me, but I see the appeal. aximdude2005 - What are you talking about? He's offering invites to a wholey different service. The...

    Safari and GMail

For reference, I'm running 10.4.1. I'm not sure if the problem I'm about to state exists in previous versions of OS X or Safari, so I'll tell it as I see it. I like to use the web interface for GMail. The problem is, I hate how GMail can command focus when I have multiple tabs open. That...

    I think we need...

What? If it were me, I'd ban them altogether. On a related note, they tend to cause more miscommunication that anything. Someone will reply to a thread in a sarcastic manner and put a smiley to note they are just kidding. That will be followed by the original poster getting huffy cause...

    Blocking a site.

if you have admin access you can just edit your /etc/hosts file when you look at it, it should make sense as to the format. but for an example, to redirect www.yahoo.com to localhost your /ets/hosts would probably look like this... ## # Host Database # # localhost is used to configure...

    Weird reloading on Safari

I get the same problems. I first noticed it after I followed an RSS link. Doesn't seem to do it all the time though. Weird.

    I'm over it. Are you?

So I was quite disturbed by the Intel announcement the other day, but I'm over it. I'll accept it and so long as Apple continues to make a better product than the other guys, I'll continue to buy. I just started this thread to give everyone else a chance to "redeem" themselves, so to speak...

Suitable text editor with advanced features

I've been using Xcode, but otherwise my editors of choice are subethaedit and smultron. Xcode is by far the most feature rich and I know it does the indenting thing you speak of. I'm not sure about the others. It has been a while.

It's The End Of The World As We Know It

So let me get this straight. IBM and Apple go nowhere for whatever reason, but clearly Intel and Apple have got this right? Isn't that what everyone said when they went with IBMa couple of years ago? Also, in 5 years, this won't be an issue for me, as I'll have moved on and bought all new...

    Perl for MacOS X?

I have to back up all the opinions about perl here letting the progammer get sloppy and big programs unmanagable. BUT, since our poster here is in mobi, it is entirely likely he/she is concerned with sequences. Perl is awesome for this sort of thing. As well, there is an O'Reilly book...

It really is a crime that Apple has let this go on for such a long time.

I had an old g3 at one point with os 9 on it. When I put X on, the monitor freaked out, went black and I was sure it was a gonner. Then I checked around a bit, and found that I needed to update the firmware. I put the X install cd/dvd (don't remember) back in after hooking up a different...

    Usenet Addition Opinion

I'm not sure, but I think newsgroup threads are showing up in the RSS feed. Not sure if this intentional or not, but as you can imagine, not a welcome addition for me. I assume they are usenet feeds as I can't access them when I click the link. Is it the case that the RSS feed will...
