    Sounds like it's looking for a startup disk to me. Maybe it's set to use your extra drive. Can you boot from the cd?

    Sounds like it's looking for a startup disk, probably spinning it's wheels trying to network boot. Happened to me when a HD on my PB ti went out...... You're positive you got through the installation without any hangups?

    Start up from the X cd and format the drive (if you need anything, make sure you back it up). When you're done formatting, simply install....

    Thanks bobw, I took it out and am trying to crash it with no luck....I think part of me didn't want to accept that I got a bad ram chip. It's actually running a little smoother and faster with only the 256 chip in it.

    For whatever reason mail wouldn't recognize my outlook either. Kept telling me there were no Mailboxes to import. OK. Worked like a charm from entourage to mail though....

    I moved my entire outlook folder from my old computer onto my new imac. Then opened entourage and imported it. It will ask you to select your identities folder then select whatever mailboxes you wish to import. Good luck...

    I just went through this with the same problem. I had to import my OE identities (mailboxes etc) into Entourage, then into Mail....
