Pipe MacOS stuff through Unix with Terminal services!

I'm quite sure you need to restart. In fact, the startup "process" indicates "Starting Service Applications". Think it is related to that... And if you want to make them accessible, the Terminal need to be open... Even if in the Service menu items seems to be accessible, choosing it won't launch...

Ok, it's a problem we can't explain... I just wondered if there was a know bug or something... Seems like everythings works fine with everyone... So I'll might take the time to reinstall. But by the way, when I first installed, it got stuck for at least half an hour before it started.... Notice...

Thanks for your help, it will serve in other cases, but I didn't askk for a way to make the app invisible, but it's icon in the Dock only!!! If you take the example of the clock, it is unusefull if it is hidden onthe Desktop and it's icon stuck at midnight in the Dock. I tried the two...

Unable to create a new user

Hi! I was trying to create a new account using Multiple Users, and even if new folders were created in Users, they never appered in the list of user, and I wasn't of course able to log under these accounts. I've never been able to log under any account except root and my own. I tryed this as...

    Make it invisible!

Hi! Is there any way to set an application to run without being visible? My first concern about this question is that the Dock gets filled by icons that are always open from the beginning untill the end of my session. I know they are running, so could they simply diseappear and live more space...

    pict w/ alpha

Sorry, I look like intruding in a conversation not meant for me. I just wonder what exactly Alpha channel is. The only time I saw something about that is with a theme created for Audion. It allowed transparency. Now, the option to display using alpha channel seems to not work anymore using OS X...

Previews not giving a nice PDF

I don't know what is the exact source of the problem, but when I preview a document made with Appleworks, the PDF that result has major differences with the original. It is not supposed to!!! Well, let's say that the page design was complex: many images, lot of pages (107), and so. The text...

Are you still using the beta?

I agree with you with productivity (even if I don't need to be procutive using X...). But can you point out things that frustrate you? I make many comments at Apple's feedback. Hope they'll listen and improve it!

Pipe MacOS stuff through Unix with Terminal services!

If you noticed, there is a "command" at the startup saying "starting services" or something like that. So services are activated when you restart I guess. I truly think that Services are really really powerful. I'd like to see plenty of them. Imagine, you select some text, then you spelling...

    Slow Motion!

I'm not sure, but if you look the way it behaves in other occasions, the Finder is still a Carbon app.(The way I know what type an app is is simple: open another one above the app, and then try to close the window behind belonging to the app you want to know about. If it comes to front before...

Access Windows Shares Under Mac OS X in 10 Easy Steps

I don't personnaly think that they have the choice. It would be bad to not support compatibility with old Macs, especially on a Network. And not everyone has or wants OS 9 yet.

    Slow Motion!

Think you miss one part: you press option at the SAME TIME you push the little yellow button to minimize. That's what it is all about. But of course option+clic outside hides the app, as it always did :-)

    Slow Motion!

I'm I wrong or the option key to minimize or close every window is not working in Cocoa. That would be a major lost. Seems like Apple has removed every "trick" that was hidden in OS 9... But the slow motion effect is nice. What about that: replacing useful features with nice effects... What a...

    MacOS X Sucks

I believe that speach technology as well as handwritting recognition could make the Mac more powerfull and distinctive. This technology is part of the Mac for a few years, and I would like to see it improved with OS X... In fact, even if the first comparison with Win95 surprised and shocked...

Access Windows Shares Under Mac OS X in 10 Easy Steps

That thing is nice, I tried and it works well from now. But what about being able to connect to Macs the same way. I mean, in OS X, you can't connect to another Mac on the network with appleshare (not IP), and there are no tools to do it up to now. I'm I wrong? It sounds quite strange!

    plist settings?

I tried to add settings in the plist, but now typing the command read, I see that by trying to change a command that was not originaly there, I added it. Of course, this setting is not usefull and i'd like to remove it, but how?

Disabling animated effects in OS X

Well, from what I see in cocoa applications, Aqua just takes the best of new faeture offerend in the UI. Things like being able to close a window without bringing it to front make me save a lot of time usually wasted in screen redrawing. And it is so fast! Whyy would you have to display a window...

What can I do with sendmail?

At first I was happy to see a replacement for SMTP, beause my ISP offer no mail service. But is sendmail reliable? I noticed that past days my mail is not sent. Looking at the var/log/mail.log, I see something like Dec 9 01:40:05 d217-120 sendmail[279]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR(latourfl)...
