    The thrill is gone

I believe these symptoms (I have them too) are something I call revolutionitis... We all have experienced a great leap forward in terms of personal computers with the advent of X. This new OS was a big change from OS 9 and is very exciting. Now, though, that X is becomming the accepted...

    Advice needed

Hey, when the G5 does come out from IBM in chip form, I bet there will be lots of upgrade companies that will make a ZIF upgrade available for a G4... This brings up an interesting question... Can a G5 run in tandem with a G4 on the same system?

    os x on old imac

Hehe... I'm still running 10.2.6 on a 300 MHz machine and it dosen't seem to slow for me (maybe I'm just patient). Guess I should upgrade sometime soon...

new iPod on-the-go playlists are USELESS!!!

Back to the iPod thing... It is good to get these frustrations out, though. Apple people frequent these boards from time to time (or so I have heard...) and if they see these issues, then they are most likely going to fix them. Just a thought...

    elegance

This idea captures a large part of why I feel more comfortable ("at home", if you will) within (software) and around (hardware) the Mac. The elegance and simplicity, yet attention to detail on both levels makes using a Mac a most enjoyable experience. It's kind of like experiencing a...

BILL & HP copy APPLE Design

Ya know... Even though MS & co try to do the nice designs of Apple, they fall very short. This prototype has the look of a bulky PC (notice how tall and square the keyboard, screen, and screen stand are). Ugh... It just feels like a 1980's IBM design... Makes me shudder just looking at it.

    Longhorn

Is it a habit for MS to name it's OS's after bovine species?... Guess it would make sense... new OS = new Cashcow. :p ;)

    But Kicking Benchmarks

Having a great OS is a good argument, but let's face it, without some real processor improvements sometime soon (i.e. within the year), a good OS will start to mean lesser and lesser. :( Apple, please find a faster processor!

2 May Apple Store Event ...

Can I trade my 5GB iPod with anyone for a new 10 or 15 GB one, straight up? ;) :p

    Remember that botched Microsoft ad...

... that highlighted confessions of a Mac to PC convert and the fiasco surrounding it? Well, it's made a list of dumb buisness blunders... http://www.business2.com/articles/mag/0,1640,47750%7C2,00.html Way to go Microsoft!!:p

You are an OS X geek when ...

... when you realize that the phrases 'windows-user' and 'windows-compatible' are contradictions in terms. :D

    Classic " Resource Update Error"

There is always the option to "zap" PRAM (by holding down apple+option+P+R just after starting the computer). I dunno if this will do anything usefull, but it couldn't hurt (at worst some settings, such as date, highlighting, mouse scroll speed will be reset to default).

    Comics and Cartoons!

Here are a few online comics that are not sindicated. www.sinfest.net -> great comic, slightly cynical, my favorite. www.itswalky.com -> funny most of the time, has a decent sci-fi plot, can be a bit heavy in dealing with emotional issues, though. www.reallifecomics.com -> humerous...

    Apple's Recomendation on Gaming

Well why not use the current iPod as a simple gaming system? Granted it wouldn't be a gameboy, but hey, with creativly constructed games, it wouldn't be that bad... couldn't hurt...

    Post your desktop!

Cool desktop pic... Seems a lot of people have fancy computer generated fantasy pictures. How does one go about obtaining (or for that matter creating) a few of these??

    User Interface performance?

I'm not complaining about the GUI itself. I love OS X and esp Jaguar (I've noticed a great speed increase in the OS with this upgrade), I just wish that my machine (aged as it is) would be able to run it a bit more smoothly. Heck, when the G3 tower that I currently have was designed, OSX...

    User Interface performance?

I've noticed it too. I tend to also get a lot of spinning beachballs that last a while just because I am opening windows while I have a process running (something as simple as iTunes playing). Even though it is beautifully designed (I love it regardless), I would like the OS to feel a little...

    Jobs: best paid CEO

I thought that Steve Jobs only accepted a paycheck of $1 a year? Or was this only when Apple wasn't doing as well as it is now?

save dialogs: what should be done:

Is there a way to get save dialogs to behave the way they did in OS 9? That is, is there a way to up/down folder levels the old OS 9 way instead of the collumn way (which I can't get used to) that is being used now?

osx 10.2.4 force quit less effective

I tend to notice this as well... Especially if I am playing songs off of my iPod with iTunes in the background and I am doing a lot of other things. iTunes stops playing and won't respond to button calls. I force quit it, it disappears, but the triangle is still under the icon in the dock. I...
