Gotta Love Mac Bashing From PC Users...

lol. that was great. Best parts were about the software update icon bouncing up and down, and how the top of the screen is reserved for the almightly blue apple.

New G5s and pld Hard drives

Oh I think there'd be enough room. You'd just slide the harddrive toward the back of the case a little more. They really don't take up too much space.

New G5s and pld Hard drives

You can buy sata-to-ide converters. I'm pretty sure newegg sells them

If the G5 is true, are you buying one?

Yup I'm getting one. sold my newish dual 1.25 yesterday. I'm guessing the 1.6 will enter in around 1500 dollars or so

Newbie on Mac - GeForce4 Ti and SB Extigy

Your pc Geforce card won't work in a Mac. You can flash a pc version of the ATI 8500 to work in a Mac, but that's the newest card. So it's a no go. The extigy of course does work with 10.2. 10.2.4 (i think) included Extigy drivers, although they are very simple. 10.3 is supposed include...

    this site could look better

Why don't the admins install different themes and let us choose what we want? Quite a few of the forums around have an option in the users preferences to change the theme on their own.

kernel panics - the merged thread

I've had a couple KPs in the past 24 hours. I'm looking at the panic.log. Where can I go to figure out what it means?

    iMac or PowerMac?

Well I'm sure you read what I wrote at neowin, but I'll echo it here Pmac will give you expandability on every area. As for that 17"lcd, Apple's is very high priced compared to other companies, and lower quality. Check out viewsonic, sony, or nec for a better, cheaper 17".

    Sound Cards

OS X.2.3 comes with drivers for the SB Extigy.

    Dissapointed so far

You should have done some research first. Find out if all your hardware works with OSX, THEN switch. Don't blame Apple either. Blame the company who made your card. They are the ones creating drivers. Wake up people. scsi has been dead for a few years now. The only realm it has ANY use...

    input on my hardware choice

I'm getting a dual gig PowerMac machine sometime within the next couple weeks. I've narrowed down my options to getting it from MacMall for the free extra 512MB Ram. Or I could get it at the Apple store and configure it to come with the Geforce4 Ti or Radeon. So.... MacMall = 512MB Ram free...

The new imac, juicy gossip required

I was checking out prices at Crucial. 256MB 133Mhz is 95 dollars for powermacs ram. do imacs use the same? I think thats a good 50 dollars cheaper than apple's prices isn't it? 512 was about 180. Coming from a PC background, crucial is the best you can buy for pcs....i assume its pretty...

    recommended resellers?

I'm looking at getting a powermac from compusa or smalldog. I like getting one from compusa because its a half hour away, and there's an apple tech support guy there. On the other hand, smalldog will probably be a bit cheaper due to no tax. Can anyone give me some heads up on either option?

    sound quality in powermac?

The sound quality is big for me. Especially connecting the powermac to a home stereo. I assume that is possible....how is the sound quality? How does the "soundcard" in a powermac (is it a card?) compare say to a Creative Labs Live card for PC? Does anyone even sell soundcards for Mac that...

    PowerMac 733 or 800 or 933???

I looked around for the 867. Didn't find very many. Most were around 2000 dollars, which is more than the 933 at apple.com that i liked. The biggest advantage to apple.com is you can configure systems. If I could configure an 867 somewhere, i may just do that. The Geforce2 is out for...

    PowerMac 733 or 800 or 933???

Well, the Radeon is a better card than the Geforce4 MX. Alot less problems on the radeon. Have been perusing on the Apple duscussion boards at apple.com. People there are pushing radeon because of the troubles that geforce is having with macs

    PowerMac 733 or 800 or 933???

I'm a longtime pc user who will be getting my first mac here soon. But I'm having trouble deciding between the 733 and 800, and maybe the 933 Looking at what MacMall has, I am leading toward the 800 because of the extra ram and the radeon card. And then the 933 from the Apple store...
