    Twain-Sane-Interface

I can't remember exactly if I Archived the Panther files, but even if I did, I have deleted the archive folder. I did install the Twain-Sane packages (Tiger version) but I may have first deleted the relevant packages from /Library/Receipts. They are there now. I've tried debug (with and...

    Twain-Sane-Interface

Thanks for the information. I may have made an error when I simply removed the packages names from Receipts and then installed the latest packages for Tiger. Perhaps installing VueScan didn't help (although VueScan claim not to install any system files and not to interfere with other software)...

    Twain-Sane-Interface

I have used this software successfully in Panther to scan to Word and Graphic Converter but I can't get it to read images from my scanner anymore since I upgraded to the latest Tiger. My scanner is Benq Flatbed scanner 23 and it uses the snapscan backend. It works fine in Linux and Windows...

    xSane as in Linux

Thanks for the advice. I tried installing 2 other users (with and without administration rights). Yes the firmware is now uploaded more often but in the Twain-Sane window which freezes on screen, I read: No Image source found. Also I get an error while doing a preview and the interface freezes...

    xSane as in Linux

I've tried it but can't get it to work properly. It sees the scanner but I get a window on screen which freezes and says it cant connect to the scanner. I have to remove the process in Terminal. It an Acer/Benq 3300u scanner. Are there any known problems with Tiger? I think the problem might be...

    xSane as in Linux

I have used xSane in Linux with my scanner and it works fine. I tried to use the Twain-Sane interface for OSX and it worked in Panther but not in the latest Tiger. My question is: I have installed X11. Can I now install Sane and xSane as in Linux on my mac? If so, how? John.

    Scanner Problems

http://sourceforge.net/projects/hp3300backend Try downloading this backend if there is a version for OSX. It's new and claims to support your scanner. then you'll have to install Twain-Sane Interface for OSX. It's worth a try. JB.

    Microtex 9800XL scanner

This is normal. I can only scan to file using VueScan and save it as pdf, tiff or jpg. You can then just open the pdf file by clicking on it, or open Acrobar Reader and then open the pdf file from its saved location. Vuescan basic edition doesn't support scanning direct to a graphics program or...

Snapscan E50 not operating in OS X 10.3.9

Easiest solution is to go online and buy VueScan. Do a search for VueScan. I just checked and it does indeed support your scanner. It costs about 50 dollars/euros. If you dont want to pay this, there's a more complicated free option. Search for Twain-Sane interface for mac OSX. This takes a bit...

ScanWise (Agfa Scan Software) with Rosetta?

Not sure about the Snapscan Touch, but have you checked out XSane (which I had used in Linux with my Acer/Benq Scanner (part of the Snapscan group) and was then able to setup in OSX using "Twain-Sane for Mac OSX". Check out the following: http://www.ellert.se/twain-sane/ This takes a bit of...

PC cant see Mac files (Networking)

Sorry I haven't replied sooner to 2 previous replies. Yes, I can ping the Mac from PC even with the Sygate firewire at Normal setting. I can access the mac's Apache and local web. I need to set the Sygate firewall in XP to "allow all" in order to access the Mac from the PC. This can't be safe...

PC cant see Mac files (Networking)

Thanks. I had been using a free version of Sygate Personal Firewall (now bought by Symantec) and had disabled the Windows XP SP2 firewall. When the Sygate firewall was disabled I could then acces the mac from the PC. However even with the firewall on I could access the PC from the mac but not...

PC cant see Mac files (Networking)

I have a Windows XP Desktop and a Mac Powerbook. The PC is connected to the internet via ethernet cable to an adsl modem/router which also has a wireless option. I use this wireless option to also connect my powerbook to Internet. The PC address is 192.168.1.34 and Powerbook is...

Stupid DVD got stuck in my Powerbook ! Help!

    External microphone for powerbook?

Belated Reply: I bought an iMic from Griffin and when I also installed iMic Controller I was able to boost the input manually. This had to be done manually each time as it was not possible to store input volume in iMic Controller. However, I got an acceptable volume this way. I also tried...

    Powerbook does not shutdown completely?

This may sound very strange. (A minor bit irritating problem). Sometimes when I try to shutdown , i.e. push the power button and press Enter to choose the default option (Shutdown), I notice that my 12" Powerbook seems to go into sleep mode (The sleep light is on). However it's not really...

    Sony minidisk microphone with Powerbook

Thank you both for the helpful replies. I an now aware that "audio-in" is not the same as "microphone-in". I also turned up the volume in Sound input in System Preferences. This helps but I would like a fuller sound quality. My Sony mic (ECM-MS907) uses a small AA battery which gives enough...

    Sony minidisk microphone with Powerbook

I use a small Sony microphone which works perfectly with a Sony minidisk recorder. However, it doesn't seem strong enough when recording into my 12" powerbook. It works but the wav files are quite weak - not as strong as when i use the built-in microphone. Does it need a different microphone...
