Is there a Macsbug equivalent in X ?

Is there an equivalent to Macsbug for Mac OS X. If there is, how can I activate it ? LimeWire has to be the most frequently crashing application in Mac OS X (in fact, I should say that it crashes reliably ;) ), and I would like to know why (and send a report to the authors...)

    Dynamic macosx.com DNS services

That could be interesting if you offered crystal clear installation instructions. I'll never be a programmer, even if I try to...

What do you name your macs ?

And you need three 19" screens for that ??? ;-) Seriously, what was the original purpose of this three-headed monster ??? :D

What do you name your macs ?

I wonder where they are now ? (Nostalgia !) Mais on ne parle que le français... Sauf avec les visiteurs Américains, bien sûr ! ;)

What do you name your macs ?

My first Macintosh was called... Mac. (A 1984 Macintosh : "we" lived 3 years "together".) My second Macintosh was called Gros Mac. (A Macintosh 512e : "we" lived 5 years "together".) My third Macintosh was called Andromaque. (A Macintosh IIsi : "we" lived 7 years "together".) My fourth...

    Kernel Panic : Survey

I wonder if Fahrvergnuugen (the original poster) had other kernel panics since April ? As for myself, I only had one kernel panics using Mac OS X, and that was in the Mac OS X 10.0.0 days. It happened while browsing the local network (out of curiosity, because it is non existent ;) ) using...

How to build a Java app package ?

I wanted to update my LimeWire package (found on Joan iDisk, see the LimWire FAQ) from 1.4 to 1.4b, so I replaced the older jar components with the newer ones. Unfortunately, the package doesn't work anymore : when I double click on it, java complains that the main library could not be found...

Software update cannot connect to the internet...

Thank you Onan... but that solution did not work for me. I had read this tip somewhere else and it did not work in my case (see my very first post). I guess we can consider my problem (Software update trying to use a dial-up connection despite an ethernet connection being available) and yours...

Software update cannot connect to the internet...

Yes ! Yes ! Yes ! Yes ! Hip, hip, hip hooray ! Thanks VGZ, you solved my problem ! :D I had configured the dial-up (modem) tab as a preventative measure, just in case I would need it. I had not realized that doing so would prevent some apps from using the ethernet connection... (even...

Software update cannot connect to the internet...

This would concur with my "same symptom, different disease" theory, since nothing changed here, even though I upgraded to 10.0.2... Maybe Apple solved your problem, and mine will be solved in 10.0.3. I guess I cannot help being an optimist. ;)

Software update cannot connect to the internet...

I've got the feeling we have the same symptom, but a different disease ! My computer is not connected on a network : my Mac is an island with a link to the world via Internet/PPPoE.

    Avatar display bug

I noticed today that in OmniWeb, avatars in JPEG format are not displayed correctly. It seems that the vBulletin software sends out a file called "Avatar.php" for files with "*.jpg" extensions while GIF formatted files are sent out as "Avatar.php.gif". The lack of a valid image extension causes...

Software update cannot connect to the internet...

Of course, I updated yesterday thanks to the full update availability in the Apple TILs, but I still find it supremely annoying that certain part of the OS cannot connect to the internet... I wonder if it has anything to do with the Setup Assistant that did not correctly configure my system...

Software update cannot connect to the internet...

I know this has been talked over and over, only I have not found a solution to this problem... Has any one succeeded in getting the "software update" of feature Mac OS X to work with a PPPoE connection ? Here's what happens : after I click on the "update now" button, the "Internet connect"...

    Floppt Drive...

Seriously, Apple hasn't build any drivers for floppy drives, so under OS X, your floppy drive is nothing more than a museum piece... In fact, the only floppy drive one can use under OS X are the USB ones.

Default "Application" folder on another disk ?

When you click on the Application icon at the top of the Finder windows, you go in the system defined Application folder... on the Mac OS X disk. Not where I want. Moreover, you should know that in Mac OS X, as opposed to 9 and earlier, any app that is not in the Application folder won't be...

Default "Application" folder on another disk ?

In classic Mac OS, one could put apps anywhere one wanted. Personally, I always put them into an application folder, but not on the same disk as my System Folder. Same thing for my "Documents" folder. The idea being that it's easier to backup or defrag this way. It also used to be that it was...

    Most #%$&^!

That's not a bad idea... In fact, I would move the "info bar" that gets attached to each message to the top. I think it would be more intuitive.
