We've been hearing rumers for years about Apple going x86, I remember when there were rumered talks with AMD, but if i'm not mistaken AMD integrated chips showed up in the airport basestation, not a mac. I'd buy a compatability card, but I'll be horrified if there is a chip switch.

Need to be able to share a single folder rather than having the user folder and the hard drives show in the list. In Previous versions of OS X I could do this with share points but it seems to be broken in Tiger? :( Any Ideas?

I have a network of OS X machines connecting to an file storage computer running Tiger standard. I have users and groups set up to specify a level of access required to open a given file. The only problem is right now I have to make a user and then go into netinfo to give them a group...

Tiger broke compatability with ISA Proxy systems. go to www.apple.com/support and fill out a report card so their engineers are duely aware. For the mean google "Authoxy 3.1.2" and download it.

Jaguar and Tiger currently have a broken ISA Proxy interface but Panther ususally works. Google Authoxy.

Not sure, But I do know that if you're running Jaguar or Tiger, ISA Proxy is broken, use Authoxy.

Viro, the apple dev site has a 1.5 preview that is lists Tiger as the system requirement. Thats probably part of where you saw it.

Good question r0nn13h0vv4rd, I don't know of anything short of scanning the 192.168.2.* range for assigned addresses.

Anybody know how to query the system for a list of network devices and their IP's, (short of using applescript to run ifconfig and parsing the output) like something nice in the API? :D Thanks in advance.

The problem that i was having is that somehow stupid windows machines were that were on the outside were getting ip's from my system and then that messed up their windows networking...

network port is in bedroom, we were working in the living room so I my PB on wireless and Internet sharing out ethernet and a cable going between the two lap tops.
