Mounting an Appletalk volume from the command-line

I'm working on a script but I would like to mount (and then unmount) an Appletalk volume from the command-line. I can of course go to the Go menu, then Local Network and type in the address, and it mounts, but it's just something that I need to do once a day and I want to automate it and...

    printer drivers

OS X quickly recognized my HP Laserjet but it said "unsupported" That's great, I can't print. I hope PowerPrint releases an OS X version of their software.

    Switching apps from keyboard

I have the dock set to autohide, but of course this works even if it isn't. Press the command (apple) key and the tab key. The dock will appear and an application will be shaded. Keep pressing the tab key to switch between running applications, let go to select it.

The DJ, thank you for the ALT trick, the missing RESTART option was driving me crazy! I hope the final version of OS X becomes more intuitive...

Things Apple forgot in OS X

sjobs (at) apple.com (not typing the whole thing together so that spam robots don't pick it up, although I am sure he gets his share of spam) Anyway, he does read all emails and he replies to several everyday. I wrote to him and he replied personall in under 12 hours. How many CEOs do that?

    Classic Problems

Not sure if this would work to boot off the OS 9 CD, but try it. Put the OS 9 CD in the CD/DVD drive and then reboot while holding the OPTION key. You will see a blue screen, you can then let go off the key. The system will then scan all available drives for a boot volume, hopefully it'll...

Has anyone gotten Realplayer to work?

Really? I'm running RealPlayer 8 Basic (ie. the freebie) It's behaving great, and trust me, I have used it for literally HOUS under classic and it has rarely crashed. It used to crash (and bring the system down) 3-4 times a day under OS 9.

Mac OS X, the forum with the ever changing logo !

I really liked the very first design of this site. But I also like this latest one. Simple and it doesn't get in the way.

tintin++ on Mac OS X Public Beta?

Piggy, that's awesome. Would it be possible for you to post a binary or email it to me? If you'd like I could also make it available on a website if you are unable to do so.

Has anyone gotten Realplayer to work?

I wish I could help you. The only thing I can tell you is that it works flawlessly under Classic in my system. In fact, it doesn't crash (and it crashes all the time when I run it in OS 9)

OS X will install but not boot!!!

If you can boot into OS X try running the SYSTEM DISK utility that comes in your OS X CD. Select your OS X partition and then reboot. You need to do this each time you boot into OS 9 and you want to go back to OS X.

    Macster is carbonized!

Use root as your user ID and then your admin password as the password. Then *AS SOON* as you are done taking care of Macster, log out and log back in with your normal user ID.

Has anyone gotten Fire to work?

I got Fire to work, my friends could see me online and send me messages but I was unable to send them messages for some reason. Gerry's ICQ is being carbonized, so I guess I'll wait for that one...

    Macster is carbonized!

Really? What kind of problems have you had with Audion? I had it up and running for about 3 hours straight last night and it didn't crash or act up a single time.

    Anyones' Machine Freezing in OSX?

I've had OS X freeze on me in a couple occasions and both times it was dealing with Classic applications. They made the classic environment crash and in a couple occassions it took OS X with it. But I do have to say that other than those two freezes, OS X has been the most stable OS I have...

    Any luck with Quicken 2001?

Quicken 2001 is carbonized, and it works fine... until I open the account register to enter checks and other transactions. Then it crashes. Has anyone else experienced this? Or has had success with it?
