Thanks I have tried this BUT still no joy!!! I have even tried to use the IP address instead of the name, it will just not authenticate me........

Just to keep you up to date, I have checked with our contact and he has confirmed port 25. I have also tried the 'Connection Doctor' This checks out as ok when no username and password are entered for sending, but fails when username and password entered.

I have checked all of settings are correct and have now tried a couple of other email programs i.e. Entourage and thunderbird - my settings work fine with these applications! BUT still the same problem with Mail.app?

What pop settings should I be using in Mail.app, I have my user name and password and can collect messages ok, but when sending the server keeps saying it could not validate me? Thanks in advance

I have been using Entourage as my mail client for a while now, and I have always just copied the 'Microsoft User Data' file onto an external drive as a backup (as this seemed to be the file with all of the data in). Unfortunately (Probably self inflicted - relatively new user), my mac crashed...
