I'm already quite good at soldering / desoldering SMD components. Is there an OC guide for the QuickSilver 2002 800 somewhere?

I know that the Apple OEM superdrive is a Pioneer A05. However, I am curious, will an LG superdrive work as well? How compatible are PowerMac's with regular ATAPI optical drives? Trevor

What size monitor are you using for X?

I could not imagine using anything less than a 17" for X. I tried using a 15" (800x600) and I went batty. Currently my 19" is set to 1600x1200 and I love it! =) tre

What size monitor are you using for X?

FYI: If you live in Canada, or near the border, you might want to consider getting a monitor from Hi-Tech computers. (www.canadamonitors.com). I have had many excellent experiences with them. I am not sure if there is an American equivalent, but I love these guys! Can't been $250 CDN for a...

    .DMG files and PCs?

Unfortunately the Mac is completely wiped out. I have one hard disc, with one big partition on it. I am trying to figure out a way of buring a toast file on my PC. I have the toast file, but the problem is, that Mac CDs use HFS. ack!

    .DMG files and PCs?

I need to actually have the CD readable. My Jaguar CDs have been misplaced (I still have all my registration info). I've fubar'd my partition, and need to re-install the OS but am unable to do so. A friend sent me .DMG and .Toast files of Jaguar, but I do not have access to a Mac to burn...

    Help w/upgrading to 10.2!!

I bought a QS 800Mhz, and would like to re-install the operating system. Currently I have a CD that says "Mac OS X Version 10.0", I also have a CD that says "Mac OS X v10.2 Upgrade" that is two discs. I am assuming that 10.0 is upgradeable to 10.2. When I place the 10.0 CD into my CDRW...

Processor upgrade for QS 800MHz or?

Generally speaking, would I be better off going with a processor upgrade to 933MHz (Inc. DDR cache) or upgrade my storage system to U160 SCSI with 15k RPM discs? Can an Adaptec 29160N with a Cheetah 15x-36lp be my boot device (i.e. no IDE discs, only the stock IDE CDRW). My main system uses...

    Logitech 5.1 Speakers

I'm not anywhere close to being an expert, but it was my understanding that all Apple computers have support for Stereo natively. I do not believe you will be able to have true DTS / DD 5.1 output. The speakers may be able to simulate surround, but definitely not worth the money. You'd be...

So how many of you have switched?

I'm switching tomorrow! I'm picking up my QS02. 800MHz =) Will it run OS X Jaguar well? Should I consider upgrading the ram from 256 to ~1GB? I have been a PC user for around 10 years. I sold my P4 on Friday! =) OS X here I come! Regards, Trevor
