    Beige G3/300

I am looking for a stripped down Beige G3 tower. If this one happens to be a tower and you haven't gotten any takers yet I would be happy to make a deal on a completely stripped model. I don't need any RAM or hard drives, processor card is optional, not looking for any peripherals besides a...

Moved "Home" have strange problems now.

I moved my Home to a different drive because I needed more room. That went fine, I booted into 9.1, copied Home to the new drive, booted into X, opened Net Info Manger and entered the new location of Home, logged out, logged in as root, deleted my old Home, logged out, logged in as me. Two...

    Next Generation Mac OS History

There is an excellent article on the history of Apple's next generation OS efforts at http://www.appleonlooker.com/cgi-bin/newspro/990148841.shtml if you are sketchy on the events that built Mac OS X over the past 15 years take a look, it traces it back all the way to 1987.

    Fire and AOL

File transfer over AIM is very slow, as with the same under ICQ and MSN, unless you just want to send what might as well be an email it isn't very useful. A person is much better off using OS X's built in FTP & FileSharing over IP features, or email. As far as voice goes, its a neat feature...

    Fire and AOL

But see that is the best part because Fire lets you use both ICQ AND Yahoo IM. In fact it lets you use them all, Jabber, AIM, IRC, even MSN. . . So go to www.epicware.com and download Fire.app 0.25.a today its great!

    what a nice mail.app!

No multiple personalities: This would be useless and redundent, this is a UNIX based multiple user OS, other people are meant to have to login in as themselves to check their mail. Can't check other accounts? I am using Mail to check five different accounts right now, my college...

OK, Fire 0.25.a uses the toc protocal and works great, you can get it from www.epicware.com I encourage all of you to do so. AIM sucks, ICQ is owned by AOL, please see previous statement regarding AIM sucks. Fire is more full featured than the AIM OS X Beta, more stable, more compatible...

    Epson Stylus 3000 driver???

The Stylus 3000 Color by Epson is far from old, they are still selling it for like $1300. So far no word on OS X drivers but I think it will happen, be foolish of them not to for a current product.

So, the battle continues. As of today [4/12/2001] Epicware has released Fire .25.a, the latest Cocoa Mac OS X IM client. If you don't know anything about Fire here is some breif information. Fire is a hobby/project of a guy named Eric. He has a website, http://www.epicware.com and has...

    Fire and AOL

This is regarding the recent attempts of AOL to block Fire users from connecting to their network. I speak only for myself and to pass on the information I have, I do not represent Epicware or Eric Peyton in any way. Although Epicware released Fire .24 AOL has again instituted a new block...

First [?] Semi-Official Who We Are? Poll

OK, well, if you don't get my drift from the title here is the deal. It was brought to my attention that the normally male dominated internet forums, such as this one, happen to have a decent number of lady contributers. So, I started thinking . . . Tell whatever you like, more, less...

    Installing OSX over the Beta

I was told today by some Apple technicians that each told me in turn DO NOT INSTALL OVER THE PUBLIC BETA OR ANY PAST BUILD. Apple has reported mixed short term success, no long term success with installing over other builds. Best bet is to backup data and blank the drive, then install.

    MacOS X on Beige

Maybe I am dumb but I do not read that to mean that you have to install on some thing 8GB or smaller but rather that if it is partitioned and larger you have to install onto the first 8GB. I haven't tried to put it on my Beige G3 [with a 30GB and a 20GB] yet.

    I gots the final. :)

You boys do realize that as college students you get $60 off the price, right? Regardless, Fire works great and the newest version seems to have fixed the AIM block that AOL had put in place last week against 2.1a and prior versions. So, if you need IM services, it does AIM, ICQ, YahooIM...
