what isn't great on X ... why Apple is wrong.

Pierre I am quite aware of the fact that the current service policy has some unfortunate sides to it. However, please keep in mind that Apple has nothing to gain by having her customers walking away. And while it is clearly inadequate to let customers wait for their top-of-the-range...

    The untouchable trash

I was having the same problems, logged in as root. I found the problem to be the invisible files. I just could'nt delete them. For example AppleWorks 6.2... I gave up and deleted the files when started up uner MacOS 9.1 I don't really know what to do, the only adive I can give is to do it in...

What is your favorite piece of customization software?

My absolute Favorites are: TinkerTool and XMorph. TinkerTool will let you set different options such as finder options, dock options, fonts and terminal transparency. (http://www.macosxapps.com) - search for TinkerTool XMorph will VERY easely let you change themes...

    Removing Files Notice

Oh and... you're right of course. your iBook DOESNT look like a purse. It reminds me more of an "attach-it-yourself" colorful Toilet Seat... ;)

    Unable to reinstall X

Sorry to say I've had the same problem with 10.0.3. The only difference was that I had OS 9 on a second partition. I can only tell you what I did after counless attempts to avert it: I started from the 9.1 CD (you can start from OS X CD also) and reformatted the whole drive into two new...

PowerBook G4: Sound Volume & Brightness

I could understand Apple's attitude if the TiBook was an old model - you can't please evryone. But the TiBook is a new machine, built at a time when OS X Public Beta was out already by a long shot. That is not the way to keep customers happy.

    Forum changing direction?

From what I can see, more than half of the REAL problems posted here are not known at Apple initially. God bless us all for trying. :) I am just starting to use this forum. I am not only using it to post problems, but it was indeed a problem which sent me looking for an OS X Forum initially...

PowerBook G4: Sound Volume & Brightness

I'm surely not the only one who noticed that on TiBooks, the Sound Volume and Brightness Buttons on the Keyboards are useless. The Volume Buttons do not display the Volume on screen when pressed, rendering them pretty useless. The Brightness Buttons only work when the Display Preferences have...

I'm sorry to say I've had simelar problems with my TiBook. The disk was found allright, but shortly before the Login the sartup stopped. Apple Support (the so-called specialist support that comes with a protection plan) was unable to offer anything apart from re-installing. So I did. And it...

    Memory management (RAM)

Is there a way to manage the memory usage in Mac OS X? I have loads of spare physical RAM, yet still OS X uses over 600MB of virtual memory. Is there a way to tell it to use more of the "real" RAM instead? Unused RAM is over 400MB... Thanks for your help!

Harddrive clicking noise OX X only.

Allrighty, I know what the problem is (at least on my TiBook): USB. The 10.0.4. update included new lines for USB. Well, they dont seem to be perfect. When I unplug my USB Devices, the clicking stops instantly. To be precise, it would seem that my SuperDrive from imation is causing the...

Harddrive clicking noise OX X only.

Sorry, no solution, jus a confirmation. It only started after my update to 10.0.4 though, but I'm not sure is that's the problem. I heard it the first time after installing Transmit... it's annoying, I dont want to use OS X anymore because I am afraid the HD will give up service.
