FWIW, I think you can only do Time Machine backups to HFS+ disks, whether local or remote.

What drive are you using for the destination? Are you trying to create the image on the same drive you're imaging?

Actually, it sounds like he HAS a USB printer now, but needs drivers. You could search on Dell.com for drivers, or try Versiontracker.com
