    Network between Mac and PC

Yes, it is smb, but you need to be running the server on the mac to be able to allow windows to read the mac. PITA, but it works.

    Network between Mac and PC

That's only true if you are using OS X and it only works one-way (Mac to Win). If you want to see make files on the PC you need to install SambaX and run a samba server on the mac. You can find info on how to do that in these forums. If you are using OS 9 you will need 3rd party software to...

    Loging into Samba from Win98

Isn't there an option when using the SWAT config to 'allow guest'? I think it is under GLOBALS or SHARE, or maybe both.

Can't move 10.1 from one Hard Drive to another

Actually it is easier to avoid all that 'root' and 'privileges' stuff and just do it booted in OS 9. Kinda cheating, but it avoids all the UNIX gobbledygook.

Can't move 10.1 from one Hard Drive to another

The work-around that I use is to install a fresh copy of OS X and then move over only your User, Library (the one at the root level), and the root level Applications folder (if you have stored anything in it). So far it has worked without issue. I have all my prefences in tact, etc. I will...

    Formatting os 9.2 partition

I don't think that was what Zenzefiloan meant, but I could be wrong... If you just want to erase and reformat the partition, you can do what djohnson suggested. In fact, you could do that right from OS X. If, on the other hand, you want to remove the partition so that it's space is added...

    Sharing printers in OSX

I don't have an answer for you, sorry. But I have read posts where other people were having no luck sharing printers and were told (correctly or incorrectly) that it wasn't possible. Probably due to Apple's spotty implementation of the SMB/CIFS protocol.

iTunes internet radio list not loading

I just did a fresh install and they both work for me. I would check again to see if you can connect, as I read somewhere else where people were having trouble finding the iTunes radio stations.

    Share ADSL with 2 comps

The answer to your question [as stated] is yes, you can do it between 2 computers with 1 crossover cable. But to make it work the computer that is connected to the Internet would need a free Ethernet card (NIC) available for you to connect your computer. If you or your friend have a spare NIC...

    50% ping on dual 450

ah..., sorry for the misunderstanding. I just tried pinging my network and a few internet sites and I am getting 100% return, so I don't have the symptom of ping-weirdness (to coin a phrase) of good connection but bad numbers that you are seeing. Mighty vexing, though.

    50% ping on dual 450

I don't have an answer to your problem..., sorry. I just wanted to state that I have a G4 DP450 and I have had no problems with packet loss on my network or through the DSL line. I don't think the problem resides in the double processors - at least not by themselves.

    Using iMac as router/webserver blalala

Yep, you certainly can set up your iMac as a router. All you need to do is install a program like BrickHouse to set up a Firewall and enable NAT (IP Forwarding). There are a lot of instructions out there on how to set up IP Forwarding, just do a search on that term in the forums. Post if you...

Latest 10.1 update causes problems for OmniWeb

I generally always wait at least a week before perfoming the firmware upgrades. Let other people find out the problems before potentially irreversible damage is done. Just think of the errors introduced in the last several updates: Loss of ability to use 3rd party processor upgrades; loss of...

Latest 10.1 update causes problems for OmniWeb

Did you by any chance also install the firmware update? I only ask because I performed both security updates (10.1 and IE), but not the firmware, and I have seen no problems at all. You might also want to reboot while holding down the Command + S keys until you see text, and after the text...
