    Kernel Panics, 10.1 reinstall errors

I've been surfing the Apple discussion pages looking for answers. It looks like lots of people are finding success by swapping out ram, apparently this might only be necessary for the installation. After 10.1 is installed successfully, the offending ram can be reinstalled. I'm going to try...

Enable root via netinfo. Launch, go under edit (i think) and enable (i think) and root access. That will enable the root account. DON'T FORGET TO CHANGE THE PASSWORD. Seamus

    Help with the DMG file!!!!

I had a similar problem in 10.0.4 where I could never mount dmg files in diskcopy for some unknown reason it always turned up an error. I remember hearing other people with the same problem, and I think it was a known issue between os 9.2.1, classic and 10.0.4 depending on where the files were...

    iASP

Since iASP is probable executing the asp files in some sort of emulated state, since asp files are looking for a windows web server, I'm guessed it will require some sort of hash at the top of the asp files. I'm just guessing, but our isp requires a hash at the top of our php files for a...

    Kernel Panics, 10.1 reinstall errors

I'm having a major problem with reinstalling os 10.1. Before i explain my problem, lemme say that before this my 10.1.1 performance had been flawless, even running several adobe and microsoft betas, not a single kernel panic. So i installed Fink, and then php and then mysql via the fink...

    Big Giant Warning With 10.1!!!!!

did you click on "install BSD subsystem" in the installation. I know it was an optional install, and it exists on the update cd as a separate install as well, so you may be able to restore all your unix progs/commands with a few clicks rather than a few hours.

anyone have any idea whats wrong with my firewire HD??

right after i installed 10.1, my 30 gig fire drive didn't load at all. so i turned it off and unplugged it from the firewire port to see if 10.1 wanted a hot connection to initialize any of the drivers or whatever. that seemed to work pretty great. you may also try deleting your explorer...

    IE Font issue / Menubar

I figured it out. I think the update switched some of my sys preferences. Font smoothing should be set at 8 pts in the general cp, duh. Sorry to waste anyone's time.

    IE Font issue / Menubar

I got another problem. The bundled internet explorer in 10.1 renders the toolbar font (i thought it was monaco) improperly, like it doesn't have a screen font for it or something. It's still readable, but I don't like it. Not a big problem, maybe something in the IE package? I have all the...

    Internet Connect Warning,

This is driving me crazy. Why does a warning to ask if I want to stay connected appear every 10 minutes? I've looked everywhere for a preference to turn this OFF, but can find nothing. I'm on PPPoE earthlink dsl. This is a new feature, but I really want my "always on" internet connect to just...
