Touchpad problem & solution (not sleep related)

I checked to see if anyone else has experienced this problem, and I didn't see any postings, so I thought I post the problem and solution. Didn't seem important enough to post in the FAQ section. Every once in awhile I'll drag my ibook out and the the battery latch has popped and I've lost...

    Take a look at this!

Very interesting. You need to check your spelling and grammar, though. Two things jumped out at me immediately: recommended only has one c, "On my free time" should be "In my free time". Good luck with your work.

Are you a full time OS X user yet?

Okaaaaaaaay then. To clarify: my wife uses the 7200 for wordprocessing and internet surfing. Sometimes I help her do something or fix one of her goofs, but other than that I never touch that machine. Surely this won't hurt my exclusive standing?!? I use it to get into all the best clubs...

Are you a full time OS X user yet?

I have a PM 7200 at home with OS9...my ibook only has OSX installed, though. I decided if they didn't make it for X, I didn't need it.

    Relational Database

First of all let me say I mean no disrespect to mysql, and php rocks. However, I started reading this thread because I do use MS Access at work on my PC, and I'm looking for a similar mac-based choice. I suspect Filemaker would be fine, but is there something else? Here is what I'm up against...

    New MacOSX.com Theme

The dark background is a little hard on my eyes, and the search results screen doesn't format well in MSIE (the links are aligned right and bumped down with an extra space). Once I'm in a thread, though, I like the layout. Perhaps I could get used to the dark background/light text. I'll just...

    Apple dumping IE?!?

I use IE most of the time, but I also use OmniWeb. I set OmniWeb to be recognized as IE because so many sites are designed for IE. Whether this makes any difference or not I don't know. I do have Java problems with OmniWeb, so my online banking only gets done with IE. Oh, and for what's...

You CAN create multi-session CDs with Mac OS X, no additional software required!

Well, there is a way...but it's a pain. Use ampersand el tee semicolon (less than) and ampersand gee tee semicolon (greater than) like this: <key> Burning Force Disc Close After Burn </key> <false/>

[HOWTO] - Setup PHP & MySQL

DOH! I had that problem with a perl script not too long ago. Why didn't I think of that? BTW, it's a neat bit of code. -e

[HOWTO] - Setup PHP & MySQL

Twister, I'll take a look at this file to see if I can find anything wrong with it. Also, for those of you who recently upgraded to 10.2 (Jaguar), and had php stop working, there's an osx.com thread that helped me: http://www.macosx.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21627 I...

    Jaguar Broke Apache

Thx, RHITMacMan, I was wacking my head on this same problem. I was loath to do the step-by-step comparison, but you already did. I owe you one. Man, do I love Macosx.com! BTW, my 10.2 install also 'purged' the setting that sets the directory setting to php. For those of you who haven't...

remaining reasons for forcing us back into OS 9?

I never return to 9. I reinstalled OSX and skipped 9 altogether. And I'm upgrading to 10.2 as I write this. My old PM 7200 didn't have anthing I really needed to carry over--I downloaded the printer driver for my laser jet from the HP Website. Of course, lots of things I try to load freak...

    at work ...

We're all PC at my work. I've thought about forcing the issue and requesting a Mac, but we do a lot of work with MS Access, so it'd probably just be a pain.... But at home it's 1 ibook and an old, grinning, PM 7200. Home sweet home.

    POP or IMAP

IMAP. I use outlook on my PC at work and something else on my Mac at home (right now I just use pine...Entourage has some annoyances and I haven't gotten around to setting up Mail again (long story)). IMAP leaves my messages on the server. Anytime, anyplace, and I can get them. As for...

[HOWTO] - Setup PHP & MySQL

Yoshi, Yep, I had to do a clean install of OSX. Luckily I didn't really have that much stuff on my machine...I did find out during the course of this debacle that Mac's CD Burner won't burn to a CD-R more than once! Guess I need to buy Toast. Also, I didn't install OS 9 at all...so we'll see...
