2 (hopefully) easy questions

1) How do I record audio using my built-in microphone. I have a voice mail on my phone that I'd like to record (by holding the receiver to the mircophone) into a .wav file or something. Can I do that easily?

2) In Mail how do I delete the "suggestions" that it gives me to try and auto-complete addresses. ie: I type an "a" and it gives me all these people who's name starts with A. It's WAY more people than in my Address Book - it's probably everyone that's ever sent me email. How do I edit these suggestions?

Check Versiontracker.com for Amadeus. I tried that a while back, excellent for recording audio...

Aw, but Amadeus isn't free! ;-)

Try out SoundHack for recording and Soundapp (For OS 9) to convert. It's a little cumbersome, but it might be all you need. If not, then jump on Amadeus. Heh.

Get Spark ME 2.8 for free from http://www.tcelectronic.com/

But you can't get a decent quality audio by recording straight from your phone. That's because cellular phones create a lot of interference to audio devices. Give it a try, you'll see what I'm tlaking about. That's why you should always turn off your phone in concerts, movies, etc. Putting it to silent mode is not enough.

Cheers...

1) I'd recommend Felt Tip Sound Studio or Cacaphony. Neither are free, but you can test them for a while before having to pay (and Cacaphony never times out).

2) How disruptive is this problem to your regular mailflow? If it's not that big a deal, I'd say ignore it. It might be all the addresses in your mailboxes, so try deleting messages and emptying the trash.

That won't help unless he can record sound from the microphone, of which I saw no indication.

I hate that auto complete too. There is just to many address in there. I wish I could clear a lot of them out.

A e-newsletter I just got from Apple mentions how to get rid of the AutoComplete. But, I don't see the options they're talking about. Is it only a Panther thing? (I'm on 10.2.8) Here's what they said:

1.**
Choose Previous Recipients from the Window menu
2.**
Select the invalid name or email address in the dialog that appears
3.**
Click Remove from List

In Panther at least it's in the "Window" menu.

If you'd like to limit these autocompletions, start by choosing History: Clear History, and then quitting Safari. In your user folder, go to Library: Safari and locate the history.plist file. Select the file, choose File: Get Info, and then click on the Locked option. Now close the window.

When you relaunch Safari, autocompletion will still work as expected on bookmarks, and it will also work for URLs you visit in the current session. But the next time you quit and restart Safari, the autocompletion data will vanish -- it can't be written to the locked .plist file. To return to normal autocompletion, deselect the Locked option in the history.plist file's Get Info dialog box.
