Purveyor of Thought...
Odd title eh?? I am trying to add my own voice recorded message to Apples Panther mail program. Following Apple's direction resulted in no listing for the voice file I created and then supposedly installed by going to mail preferences and adding a new sound. All that show up are the same as before. I even copied the new sound file and physically placed it in the various 'sound' folder that I discovered. Does anyone know of a sure fire way to add sounds to the Mail program??
using: pb g4 1.25 Panther 10.3.2
Thanks... :D

Is your sound file labeled with an .aiff or .wav extensions?
Do you have a copy in the sound folder of your home>Library?

Cheryl, yes I do have a copy in my Home/library folder. I've done everything that it says to do, the sound file just won't appear as a choice. It is a .aiff file.

Just a suggestion, go to Disk Utility and verify and repair permissions.

Also, through various upgrades (OS X 10.2.3) I noticed all my sound files in the ~/Library->Sound folder now all end with .aif, not .aiff. This may help. Just try to rename the file.aiff to file.aif.
