Administration Problems

I am having trouble, I am using my administrative account, yet when I download a program that needs administrative privileges when I enter the administrator name and password it just says that I don't have the privileges to install the program, this does not happen when the system requests an administrator name and password however.

What do I do?

Open Disk Utility (in Applications>Utilities).
Click on the second icon in the side bar at the left.
Click on repair permissions.

This should correct the problem.

If that doesn't work go to the System Preferences Pane-accounts, change your password to something different. Then log out, log in with the new password. Repeat the procedure and change the password again to what you want it to be. Log out once more then log back in. Problem solved.
