Well I made the mistake of purchasing from a big box store like Best Buy and Ièm getting screwed over. My G5 was sent out for repair and after 5 weeks it came back with my main administrator account deleted. At least it appears to be deleted.

Can anyone tell me how to get the administrator account back... or do I have to restore or re-install OS X

Thanks

Whenever an Apple computer is sent in for warranty service to Apple, it is required that you back your data up off of the drive, as the computer most likely will not come back with your data still on the drive (even if the problem is not with the hard drive). The reason for this is that when they're testing the machine, they'll most likely wipe the hard drive and fresh install an operating system -- otherwise, a hardware problem could be due to a funky installation of Mac OS X by the user. Simply wiping the drive and installing a fresh copy of the operating system allows the tech to more clearly diagnose the problem and eliminate software as the cause of the problem.

If it appears that they have done this, then your only option is to reinstall OS X and restore from your backup, or use the OS X installation that is currently on there and re-set up your administrator account.

Yeah I hear what you're saying I knw that I just didn't back anything up. I knew the problem my computer was the video card or motherboard so I didn't think they would delete everything... and part of me just assumed that they would call and ask me for a password or some more info with the problem.
Anyways lesson learned. I still have two accounts active. Both are limited accounts and cannot make any major changes. The admin account is gone and after messing around with the install disc I somehow created an 'Others...' account that promts for an account name and password when clicked on.

When I try to enter 'Others...' and a password I set it doesn't accept it. Nor does it accept anyting else.

Re-installing is my only option????
