I have an Airport Extreme Base 802.11g (could be "b") and I'm trying to hook up a external hard drive through a powered hub.

From what I gathered in the various FAQs, I hooked up the hub and hard drive and went to Airport Utility > manual set-up and was to click on "disks" - only disks is not accessible even cntrl 5 is grayed out.

Do i have a too old Base Station?

is something not hooked up right?

so long story short, my power book needs to be upgraded to leopard (10.5 OS) and it can't go up to more common snow leopard (10.6).

So there is $129.00

then I can buy a 802.11n airport extreme base (refurbished also $129.00) - before I'm able to connect an existing external hard drive to my computer wirelessly

does anyone know of a non-apple option that doesn't cost $250????

Both LinkSys and D-Link sell routers with USB port support, and each are less money then Apple's.
Maybe not as good, but cheaper...
