Airport Express - arrow on icon

I have a vertical arrow through my Airport icon.

I can connect to the internet using the Ethernet cable.

If trying an Airport link the Network Diagnostics pane is blank - no Airport Channels available - suggestion of network settings error ...?

My PowerBook laptop connects wirelessly to the router without problems - only the Desktop has the problem.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Season's Greetings and Thanks

Mike

I used a airport connection regularly when on 10.4.11 on my Widdle Pismo. I would sometimes get what you describe. I forget exactly what it means, but to solve it I would have to open the Network preference pain and go through the motions of setting up an Airport connection. It behaved as if I shut off Airport--which is another symbol.

Sorry I cannot be more specific; it has been a while. I do not get that problem in 10.5 on my new Mac.

Has the desktop machine ever connected wirelessly, and, if not, are you sure the G5 has a wireless card installed (AirPort Extreme card, etc.)?
