Airport Express is driving me crazy

Hello everyone!

After trying for 1 hour non-stop, I decided to give up and ask someone (hopefully more capable than me).
I'll try to be as brief and clear as possible.

I have an airport extreme completely installed and configured, it works great, both connections and the ethernet speed is terrific.
While my PC uses the cable, my PS3 uses the wireless.

About 2 weeks ago my cousin bought himself an Express, but couldn't configure it, so he just gave it to me. (the wireless was working on his laptops, but not on his PS3).

Anyway, right now I have the Express with me.
I plugged it in the electric plug, and via ethernet to my modem (i tried to plug it to the Extreme, but nothing happens).

So yeah, the Express appears in the airport utility, I configure it, and I choose to improve my existing wireless (the extreme I assume).

That's it. Gone.
The Express light is green, but it's gone. Can't find it in the utility. I even removed and re-installed the airport software. It's gone.
The point is, my PS3 now detects THREE wireless connection, the two from the Extreme and... the third from the Express I assume?
Yes, because as I unplugged the Express, the third wireless disappeared.

So pleople I'm freaking out, how can I visualize both my extreme AND my express in the utility? Why did it disappear? Could it be because I asked it to improve my existing wireless, instead of working as another wireless device?

The Extreme keeps working fine, but this Express is driving me crazy.
Please someone help me!

Thank you!

Did you first tell your Extreme to extended it's wireless signal first before setting up the Express to "Join" that wireless network?
