all Address Book entries gone after "hard quit"

Since 2 days I own a MacbookPro and this is my first Mac ever.

Today I encountered a problem, which is quite a PROBLEM to me.

I have been moving all my contact information from an another computer. When I was like 95% done Address Book application stopped responding so I have "hard quit" it.

After turning it back on I noticed all my cards (and groups) were GONE! The only cards that are there are: "me" and "apple" - those that I have deleted the first day!

Please let me know if there is any way to restore the data. It is crucial to me as not only I have spent like 2 days sorting and typing all the contact information but also I have been deleting the information I have typed into AB from other sources. And I need those contacts to make a living :/

PS. The only application that I have so far installed is Adium.
PS2. Yes, (now) I know I should have made a backup.

That's the answer.

In English we would say "I have owned a MacbookPro for 2 days". We don't use "since" in the way that it's used in Europe. (Z.B. "Ich habe das seit zwei Tagen besessen.")

"I have owned this since <specify time>"

E.G. "I have owned this since Tuesday".

Sorry I couldn't help with the main request but at least I hope I've helped with your English! :)

Well the information you import, use in Mail is kept in the folder ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook . Now for the import I quickly found this import hint. Also note that this hint link contains 5 other methods for an import. Good Luck.

Well you then only looked in the MAIN Library folder. Also the symbol ~ means your Home folder.

you are absolutely right I wasn't searching in the right place. but even being in the right folder didn't help :(

I tried to exchange the adressbook.data.previous for adressbook.data but it didnt help either.

:( ouch, they may be gone then...
I hope you have some form of backup of them.
I always do the backup of AddressBook before I sync anything...
