aluminum keyboard

I am getting a new IMac with a new aluminum keyboard and it looks perfect. When i start using it I realize that my shortcut key does not work anymore. My shortcut key consists of F1 - F12 is now assigned to the Mac OS function, I don't find a way to them off.

Sorry for the silly question. I must be missing something.

hold the fn key when you want to use one of your function key shortcuts.

You can swap that fn key use by changing the setting in your Keyboard & Mouse pref pane. Change that with:
Use all F1 (etc) keys as standard function keys
