Annoying iTunes!!

This small, but annoyingly inconvenient drop down menu appears every time I select "Library" from the left hand panel of iTunes. It seems to have appeared out of nowhere and now I don't know how to get rid of it.

Suggestions?

That's your iTunes browser. Click Hide Browser in your iTunes View menu, or just press command-B to toggle your browser on or off. Most elements of your iTunes window can be modified through the View menu.
